International Recognition for ANU Professor

  • Acharya Nagarjuna University's physics professor(UGC-BSR Faculty Fellow) N. Veeraiah featured in the top 2% ranks of scientists announced by Stanford University.
  • Among the 2,69,833 names of scientists identified as rankers in the physics and astronomy segment worldwide, Prof. Veeraiah was ranked 3,867. Among Indian scientists, he is ranked 49th and first in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Equipped with 40 years of research and 34 years of teaching experience, Prof. Veeraiah has published around 350 research articles in various internationally reputed journals and has handled research projects funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. He is a visiting Professor of Jan Dlugosz University, Poland and has visited several foreign Universities in Itay, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania, Germany on academic assignments.

Delhi Metro Wins 'Metro Rail with the Best Passenger Services' Award

  • The Delhi Metro bagged the award for 'Metro Rail with the Best Passenger Services and Satisfaction' at the Urban Mobility India Conference hosted by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.
  • Surat was awarded for the best public transport system while Kochi got an award for the most sustainable transport system.
  • According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, Delhi was awarded the best non-motorised transport system for the redevelopment project of Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation.
  • The awards were given away by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Karnataka Bank Gets Award for Innovative HR Practices

  • Karnataka Bank was conferred with the 'Top Organizations with Innovative HR Practices' award at the 19th edition of the Asia Pacific HRM Congress.
  • The award is yet another feather in the cap for Karnataka Bank for its innovative HR practices such as 'online e-learning module' to equip its workforce with the relevant new age skills to cater to the varying demands of the customers.
  • The award is also a recognition for the efforts put in by the 8,400-plus staff of the bank to align themselves to the call of the bank's change management and efficiency enhancement programmes to emerge as the 'digital bank of the future.

Tsitsi Dangarembga Receives Peace Prize of the German Book Trade 2021

  • The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade 2021 was awarded to the Zimbabwean author and a filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga for a "new Enlightenment", a work on violence in her country and all over the world by Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, an association of German book publishers and booksellers.
  • Dangarembga is the first black woman to win the German Peace Prize. She has won the PEN Pinter prize 2021. Her debut novel, Nervous conditions were the first to be published in English by black women from Zimbabwe.
  • German Peace Prize is awarded by Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, the German Publishers and Booksellers Association, Germany.
  • Prize money: 25,000 euros.
