World Kindness Day

World Kindness Day, observed on November 13 each year, is a global observance dedicated to promoting and celebrating acts of kindness. This day serves as a reminder of the positive impact that kindness can have on individuals, communities, and the world at large. It encourages people to perform intentional acts of kindness and foster a culture of compassion and generosity.
World Kindness Day was introduced by the World Kindness Movement, a global coalition of kindness organisations, in 1998. It was established to encourage individuals and communities to prioritise kindness and goodwill as fundamental values.

World Pneumonia Day

World Pneumonia Day, observed on November 12 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness about pneumonia, a life-threatening but preventable and treatable respiratory illness. The day emphasises the impact of pneumonia, especially among children under five and the elderly, who are most vulnerable.
World Pneumonia Day was established in 2009 by the Global Coalition against Child Pneumonia, a collective of public health organisations determined to address the lack of awareness about pneumonia's severity and the fact that it claims the lives of over 800,000 children each year.
The theme for World Pneumonia Day in 2024 is "Every Breath Counts: Stop Pneumonia in Its Track." This theme emphasises the critical importance of each breath and highlights the urgent need to combat pneumonia through timely detection, effective treatment, and preventative measures.

National Education Day

National Education Day is observed every year on November 11 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India. This day is a reminder of his efforts in promoting primary and secondary education in India along with scientific knowledge.
The Ministry of Education declared November 11 as National Education Day starting in 2008 to honour Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's contribution to education.

World Quality Week

World Quality Week, an annual event celebrated globally, is taking place from November 11 to November 15, 2024. Organized by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), this week is dedicated to highlighting the significance of quality management in a wide array of sectors, such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, and information technology.
This year's (2024) theme, "Quality: From Compliance to Performance," underscores the vital shift from mere adherence to standards to achieving peak organizational performance.

World Science Day for Peace and Development

Celebrated every November 10, World Science Day for Peace and Development highlights the important role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.
Since its proclamation by UNESCO in 2001, World Science Day for Peace and Development has generated many concrete projects, programmes and funding for science around the world. The Day has also helped foster cooperation between scientists living in regions marred by conflict - one example being the UNESCO-supported creation of the Israeli-Palestinian Science Organization (IPSO).
The first World Science Day for Peace and Development was celebrated worldwide on 10 November 2002 under UNESCO auspices.
The theme of the UNESCO celebration of the World Science Day for Peace and Development 2024 is 'Why Science Matters: Engaging Minds and Empowering Futures.'

Uttarakhand Foundation Day

Uttarakhand Foundation Day is observed on November 9 to mark the creation of the new state of Uttarakhand as the 27th state of India.
Uttarakhand was established on November 9, 2000, from parts of the hilly area of Uttar Pradesh after a long struggle for a separate state beginning in the 1990s.
Uttarakhand is commonly referred to as the 'Land of the Gods' (Devbhumi), due to several Hindu pilgrimage sites in the state.

National Legal Services Day

India celebrates National Legal Services Day on November 9 every year. This date was made to honour the passage of the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987, which came into force on November 9, 1995.
The National Legal Services Day was established by the Supreme Court as part of its proactive role in promoting access to justice. The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was constituted on December 5, 1995, for the purpose of giving effect to the provisions contained in the Legal Services Authorities Act. It was a landmark development within India's legal structure aimed at providing free and competent legal services to those unable to afford them.
The day is marked to promote awareness regarding the legal rights and the availability of legal aid services. It intends to make people aware of the provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act and how they may obtain free legal assistance.

World Freedom Day

People worldwide come together to celebrate World Freedom Day on November 9, a day dedicated to honouring the values of freedom, democracy, and the courage of those who have fought for liberation and fundamental human rights.
World Freedom Day was established to commemorate the historic events surrounding the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989. This event marked the reunification of Germany and the end of the division between East and West Berlin, symbolising the triumph of freedom over oppression.
World Freedom Day was declared by then-President George W. Bush.
Since its inception, World Freedom Day has served as a global reminder of the importance of freedom, democracy, and human rights, as well as an opportunity to celebrate the values that unite people around the world.
