Daniel Kahneman Nobel Prize Winner Dies

  • Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman, a pioneer in behavioural economics, died at age 90. The Israeli-American academic Kahneman worked at the Princeton University until his death.
  • Kahneman, who wrote best-selling book "Thinking, Fast and Slow," argued against the notion that people's behavior is rooted in a rational decision-making process -- rather that it is often based on instinct.
  • In 2002, Kahneman was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in recognition for his research in the fields of psychology and economics.

Popular Tamil Actor Lakshmi Narayanan Seshu Passes Away

  • Actor Lakshmi Narayanan Seshu, lovingly called Lollu Sabha Seshu, died in Chennai. He was 60.
  • Seshu made his film debut with the 2002 Dhanush film, Thulluvadho Ilamai. He became a household name after his character grew popular in hit comedy show, Lollu Sabha.
  • After his stint in the television medium, Seshu went on to act in multiple movies. He was known for his collaborations with actor-comedian Santhanam. Some of his memorable films include titles such as A1, Dikkiloona, Gulu Gulu, Naai Sekar Returns, Draupathi and Vadakkupatti Ramasamy among others.

Natasha Diddee, the Gutless Foodie Blogger, Dies

  • Famous food blogger Natasha Diddee, popularly known as The Gutless Foodie, died in Pune. Ms. Diddee was a chef by profession and was living life without a stomach.
  • The Pune-based food blogger reportedly lost her stomach to a tumour in 2018. Diddee faced multiple dietary restrictions surviving without a stomach. Her diet included several small meals throughout the day. However, she turned her prolonged illness into an opportunity and made a name for herself by exploring her passion for home-cooked food.

Former PCB Chairman and Diplomat Shaharyar Khan Passes Away

  • Former two-time Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chairman and a career diplomat, Shaharyar Khan, passed away at the age of 89. Shaharyar is known for restoring ties between India and Pakistan during his first tenure as PCB head from 2003 to 2006.
  • Cousin of former India captain and great Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Shaharyar Khan, had served as Pakistan's foreign secretary from 1990 to 1994 and as a High Commissioner in New Delhi and the United Kingdom. During his time with the Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar served twice, with his second term from 2014 to 2017.

Veteran Journalist Zafar Agha Dies

  • National Herald editor-in-chief Zafar Agha died. He was 70.
  • Agha began his career as a journalist with Link Magazine in 1979.
  • In his 45-year career, he also worked with The Patriot, Business and Political Observer, India Today, ETV and Inquilab Daily. His final stint as a journalist was with the National Herald group, first as editor of Urdu daily Qaumi Awaz and then as editor-in-chief of National Herald.
  • The National Herald is an Indian newspaper published by The Associated Journals Ltd and owned by Young India Limited a company by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and Shiva Publications a partnership firm by Vishnu Goyal & Rekha Goyal. It was founded by India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1938 as a tool to win independence. It is headquartered in New Delhi.

Former Odisha Minister and Veteran BJD Leader Damodar Rout Passes Away

  • Former Odisha minister and veteran Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Damodar Rout passed away at the age of 82.
  • Rout, a seven-time MLA, was actively involved in electoral politics from the 70s to 2019 and had served in the Cabinet of Naveen Patnaik and his father Biju Patnaik. He also courted a series of controversies during his career, creating frequent moments of discomfort for the government, for which he had also faced disciplinary action.
  • Elected to the state Assembly five times from Ersama and twice from Paradeep, both in Jagatsinghpur district, Rout was expelled from BJD in September 2018 for anti-party activities.
