India participates in Environment Ministers' Meet at G20 Summit

India participated in the environment ministers' meeting at the 16th G20 Summit.
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav virtually took part in the two-day meeting, along with Minister of State for Environment Ashwini Choubey and senior officials.
The 16th G20 Summit under Italian Presidency revolve around its primary theme of "People, Planet' and Prosperity".

National Broadcasting Day

National Broadcasting Day is observed on 23rd July all over India. On this day in 1927, the first-ever radio broadcast in the country went on the air from the Bombay Station under the Indian Broadcasting Company.
Radio broadcasting began in India under British rule in 1922 with programs by the Bombay Presidency Radio Club. Later in 1927, the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC) was made a private entity and granted permission to operate two radio stations.
IBC went into liquidation on 1 March 1930, following which the government took over the broadcasting facilities and started the Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS) on 1 April 1930 on an experimental basis for two years. Then in June 1936, it went on to become All India Radio.
When the country attained Independence from the British Raj, there were six radio stations - Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Tiruchirapalli, and Lucknow. However, FM broadcasting began almost 30 years later on 23rd July 1977 in Chennai.

Pi Approximation Day

Pi Approximation Day is observed every year on July 22 all around the world. The fraction 22/7 is an approximate value of Pi, and there behind lays a specific reason why this day is observed on July 22. This day is celebrated on July 22 every year because the value of Pi is denoted by the fraction 22/7. Here, in the fraction 22/7 which denoted Pi, the numerator 22 symbolizes the date (22nd day of the month) and numerator 7 indicates the month (July).
Pi Approximation Day and Pi Day are closely linked to each other, and Pi day is observed on March 14 every year all over the world. As we know the value of Pi is 3.14, the Pi day was founded by Physicist Larry Shaw in 1988 at the Exploratorium. San Francisco science museum revealed that the date for Pi Day was decided 14 March that is the number of the Pi (3.14). The U.S. House of Representatives also supported Pi Day in 2009. However, the Pi Approximation day is marked on July 22 every year.

Macao International Art Biennale 2021 Kicks Off

The second edition of the Macao International Art Biennale kicked off at the Macao Museum Art located in the heart of the city. The four-month mega international cultural and artistic event 'Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021' is themed around "Advance and Retreat of Globalization", reflecting on the advances and retreats of globalisation through the arts.
Art Macao will present 30 art exhibitions at 25 locations between July and October, bringing an immersive cultural atmosphere to the entire city as a gallery and an art garden. This edition is curated by Professor Qiu Zhijie, who is among the most influential contemporary artists in China and Dean of the School of Experimental Art of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

International Chess Day

The International Chess Day is celebrated annually on July 20, the day the International Chess Federation was founded, in 1924.
The idea to celebrate this day as the international chess day was proposed by UNESCO, and it has been celebrated as such since 1966, after it was established by FIDE.
This year will mark FIDE's 97th anniversary.

Science Exploration Day

Science Exploration Day (also called Moon Day) is marked every year on 20 July. It was on this day in 1969 that Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first humans to land on the Moon's surface.
The origins of Space Exploration Day date back to man first walking on the moon, with the day itself first observed to commemorate this historic event during events held in the early 1970s.
