Teenage Pilot Zara Rutherford Completes Solo Round-world Record
A teenage pilot became the youngest woman to fly solo around the world following a five-month challenge.
Zara Rutherford, 19, landed in Kortrijk-Wevelgem in Belgium, two months later than planned as a result of adverse weather.
During the trip she spent a month stuck in Nome, Alaska, and 41 days in Russia.
On her return to Belgium, the former pupil of St Swithun's School, Winchester, was greeted by her family, journalists and well-wishers.
She was accompanied in her landing by four planes from the Belgian Red Devils aerobatic display team.
The circumnavigation included more than 60 stops across five continents, and began on 18 August.

Professional Mountaineer Major Hari Pal Singh Ahluwalia Passed Away
The well-known Professional mountaineer Major Hari Pal Singh Ahluwalia passed away. Major Hari Pal Singh Ahluwalia was the recipient of Arjuna Award-1965 Padma Shri-1965 Padma Bhushan-2002 and Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award for lifetime achievement in 2009.
He has written over 13 books including his autobiography "Higher Than Everest". Major Ahluwalia has also been a former president of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and the Delhi Mountaineering Association.

Global internet body ICANN-supported Universal Acceptance Steering Group roped in Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma as UA Ambassador.
Universal Acceptance Steering Group works on developing and recommending standards for languages script that are not currently used to access the internet.

Shaylyn Ford is Mrs. World 2022
Shaylyn Ford was crowned as the winner of Mrs. World 2022. She was crowned by the outgoing queen Kate Schneider from Ireland. Mrs. Jordan Jaclyn Stapp & Mrs. UAE Debanjali Kamstra were the runner up. Shaylyn Ford represented America in the pageant and battled out 57 other contestants from across the globe to claim the title. This is the 8th time an American representative won the title of Mrs. World.
Shaylyn Ford hails from Granville, Ohio, USA. She won the annual Mrs. American pageant in November 2021. She is a professional makeup artist, who has worked in every setting, from movie sets to make-a-wish projects. She has been married to her pastor husband for the past seven years and has three children. She also serves as a charitable director and does a lot of volunteer work to bring services to special needs families.
Noted Environmentalist M. K. Prasad Passes Away Campaigner, Dies
Noted environmentalist Prof M. K. Prasad, a prominent figure in the historic grassroot level movement to save the evergreen tropical rain forests in Kerala's Silent Valley from destruction, passed away at the age of 89.
Prasad was a guiding force behind the national movement against the state government's move to set up a hydro-power project in Silent Valley in Palakkad district in the 1970s.
The struggle was called off in the early 80s after Prime Minister Indira Gandhi assured that Silent Valley forests will be protected.
Prasad, who held various academic positions in Kerala, including the post of Pro Vice Chancellor of Calicut University and Principal of Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, has also authored numerous books in Malayalam on environmental issues and popular science.

Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta: Ousted Mali President Dies
The ousted President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, died aged 76.
Keïta led Mali for seven years until 2020, when he was ousted in a coup after huge anti-government protests over his handling of jihadist unrest.
An economic crisis and disputed elections also fuelled the demonstrations against his rule.
Weeks after he was ousted he suffered a minor stroke and was flown to the United Arab Emirates for medical treatment.
Mali's new military rulers staged a second coup in May of last year, announcing a further three-year delay to elections that were meant to happen this February.
This last action made them the target of sanctions this week by the EU as well as its neighbours in the West African regional bloc Ecowas.
Kathak Maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj Dies
Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj passed away at the age of 83.
Pandit Birju Maharaj was a direct descendant of the Maharaj family of Kathak dancers that includes his two uncles - Shambhu Maharaj and Lachhu Maharaj, and his father and guru, Acchan Maharaj. He started receiving training in the dance form from his young days by his father and uncles. Pandit Birju Maharaj's first major solo performance was at Manmath Nath Ghosh celebrations in Bengal and since then there has been no looking back.
The Kathak maestro was conferred with numerous prestigious awards including India's second-highest civilian award – Padma Vibhushan. Other awards bestowed on him are Sangeet Natak Academy Award, Kalidas Samman, Nritya Choodamani, Andhra Ratna, Nritya Vilas, Adharshila Shikhar Samman, Soviet Land Nehru Award, Shiromani Samman, Rajiv Gandhi Peace Award.
