Andhra Pradesh Celebrates 55th National Library Week

  • The 55th National Library Week is being celebrated in all libraries of Andhra Pradesh from November 14, 2022. The 55th National Library Week is a week-long celebration and was inaugurated in Tummalapalli Kalakshetram by State Ministers Taneti Vanita, Botcha Satyanarayana, and Jogi Ramesh.
  • The 55th National Library Week celebrations would also give impetus to the School Education Department's 'We Love Reading' initiative. The inauguration of Library Week also coincides with Children's Day on November 14.
  • On November 16, tributes would be paid to veterans like S. R. Ranganathan, Pathuri Nagabhushanam, and Ayyanki Venkataramanaiah who played a crucial role in the library movement in the State.
  • On November 17, poetry sessions and seminars would be held.
  • on November 18, competitions such as drawing, essay writing, personality development, quiz, and various games and sports will be conducted for students.
  • A discussion on Disha Act and Women's Empowerment will be held on November 19. On November 20, 'We Love Reading' sessions will be held followed by the valedictory session.

Carlos Saura to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 53rd IFFI, Goa

  • Carlos Saura, Award-winning Spanish Film Director will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India which starts from November 20 to 28, 2022 in Panaji, Goa.
  • The International Film Festival of India this year will see 280 films from 79 countries, including 20 non-feature films and 25 feature films screened over the 8-day period. 'Alma and Oskar', the Austrian film which is directed by Dieter Berner will open the annual festival while Krzysztof Zanussi's 'Perfect Number' will be the closing film.
  • As per the Information and Broadcasting Secretary, Apurva Chandra, the 53rd edition of the festival is important as it is the first chapter to be organized in person after the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indian Army's 'Dil Maange More' Short Film Festival Begins in Udhampur

  • The Indian Army started a short film festival 'Dil Maange More', aimed at empowering young filmmakers from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
  • The Dil Maange More Short Film Festival (DMMSFF) is an initiative of the Northern Command of the Indian Army.
  • On the opening day of the festival, masterclasses by award-winning and renowned filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali and Rahul Mittra were organised.
  • The first ever 'Dil Maange More' short film festival conducted by the Northern Command opened to a fantastic response by the youth of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh at Udhampur.
  • The month-long festival, curated by Captain Rahul Bali, is being organised in association with Innovations India.
  • Major Gen Patil said Indian Army is steadfast in its endeavour of nation building and lending all the support possible to the youth of J&K and Ladakh for their growth and development.

India's First Feature Film Starring only Indigenous People to Premiere at 53rd International Film...

  • Dhabari Quruvi', the first feature film in Indian film history with a cast of only indigenous people, will be screened at the 53rd International Film Festival of India.
  • Directed by national award-winning filmmaker Priyanandan, the 104 minute-long feature film on the rise of a tribal phoenix from the ashes, will have its world premiere in the Indian Panorama section of the festival.
  • The film, entirely shot in the tribal language of Irula, tells the evaluating story of girls belonging to the tribal community in Kerala.
  • In Irula, Dharna Quruvi means 'a parrow with an unknown father'. The mythological bird, which is part of the tribal folklore, captures the untold tales of the unseen people who suffer quietly, who yearn to break the shakles of injustice, whose agonies and struggles the film seeks to to bring to light.
  • The actors comprise sixty people, belonging to Irula, Muduka Kurumba and Vaduka tribal communities of Attappadi, a scheduled tribe hamlet of Kerala.

AWWA's Literary Event

  • Aimed at promoting literary talent of Army wives and showcasing their artistic skills, the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) started the second edition of its literary event "Abhivyakti Season 2" at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, from November 12-14.
  • Diya Kumari, MP, Rubal Shekhawat, Miss India first runner-up 2022, Rannvijay Singha of Roadies fame and theatre artiste Kumud Mishra wwere among the guests. The fest was inaugurated by Archana Pande, president, AWWA.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Launches Purple Fest Logo

  • Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched logo of Purple Fest at a function held in Manohar Parrikar Memorial Hall of Sanjay Centre for Education, Porvorim. The event was organised by the Office of State Commission for Persons with Disabilities Goa in collaboration with Directorate of Social Welfare and Entertainment Society of Goa. Goa Government is delighted to introduce Purple Fest – Celebrating Diversity, a first-of-its-kind inclusive festival that embraces, expresses and celebrates persons with disabilities. Government will provide 100 per cent facilities to the Divyangs in the state.
  • The three-day event is to kick start in January, 2023.

Eight-Day Long Pushkar Fair Concludes

  • The 2022, Pushkar Fair was hosted by Rajasthan from 1st November to 9th November. Pushkar Fair is also known as Pushkar Camel Fair, Kartik Mela, or Kartik ka Mela. The Pushkar Fair was held without the popular cattle fair due to the spread of lumpy skin disease in livestock.
  • Every year, the cattle fair used to be the highlight of the fair. Farmers from all across the state gather at this fair to trade livestock such as cattle, camels, and horses.
  • This period is also an important season for pilgrimage to the holy Pushkar Lake. Pilgrims from all over the country travel to Pushkar for this pilgrimage.
