Mangarh Hill to be Declared Monument of National Importance

The Modi government is exploring the possibility of declaring Mangarh Hill as a monument of national importance. National Monument Authority chairman Tarun Vijay submitted a report to Union Minister of Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) on the matter, and said doing so, will be a tribute to the tribal freedom fighters who lost their lives.
The Hill, situated at the Gujarat-Rajasthan border, is a site of a tribal uprising where a massacre of over 1500 Bhil tribal freedom fighters took place in 1913. The place is also known as the Adivasi Jallianwala, and there has been a demand to demand to build a memorial.
On November 17, 1913, British forces opened fire on tribals gathered at the site who were holding a meeting in protest, led by a leader from the community Govind Guru, killing over 1,500.

Delhi to Host India's Biggest Shopping Festival in 2023

Delhi will host its first ever government-backed shopping festival from January 28 to February 26, 2023, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced. The festival will have 200 concerts for entertainment, food walks and will also offer huge discounts on products.
This will be the biggest ever shopping festival in India.
The Delhi Shopping Festival was one of the ambitious projects proposed in the Rozgaar Budget 2022-23 presented by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in March this year. Kejriwal said the festival will boost employment and the city's economy.

Rath Yatra 2022

Ratha Yatra, also known as the Chariot Celebration of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra, was observed on July 1. It is the most prominent Hindu festival in the Puri city of Odisha. This festival takes place every year on the second day of the Shukla Paksha in the months of June or July. Around a million devotees from across the country thronged temple town of Puri on Friday to pull the three wooden chariots carrying Lord Jagannath and his siblings on the main thoroughfare.
The participation of devotees in the Rath Yatra was allowed this time (in 2022) after a gap of two years following the Covid pandemic.

Goa Celebrates 'Sao Joao' Festival 2022

The people of Goa celebrated the Sao Joao festival, the feast of St John the Baptist with traditional enthusiasm after a two-year coronavirus-induced gap. Revellers across the state jumped into water bodies across the state to mark the occasion. The colourful, theme-based floats are also a traditional part of the festivities.
The festival is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, who baptised Lord Jesus on the river of Jordan and is celebrated at the onset of monsoon. Siolim, a village in North Goa, hosts a traditional canoe parade on the occasion of Sao Joao.
