Six Decades after Richard Wright's Death, Restored Novel Hits Bestseller Lists

More than 60 years after his death, Richard Wright is again a bestselling author and very much in line with the present.
'The Man Who Lived Underground', a short novel written in the 1940s and never published in full until this spring, is the surreal but credible story of a Black man who is tortured by police into confessing to a double murder he didn't commit. He escapes into the city's sewer system. Like an inversion of the American road novel or a tale of space travel, Fred Daniels inhabits a world outside the world, making up the rules as he goes along and seeing his old life in a new way.
Released by the Library of America, an unofficial canon of the country's literature, The Man Who Lived Underground also includes the Wright essay Memories of My Grandmother and an afterword from his grandson, the writer-filmmaker Malcolm Wright. The novel has reached the bestseller lists of The New York Times and the independent booksellers' Indiebound among others, and has brought new attention to an author defined, sometimes to his detriment, by his famed debut Native Son.

Book Titled 'Life in the Clock Tower Valley' by Shakoor Rather

"Life in the Clock Tower Valley" is the debut book of Press Trust of India (PTI) journalist Shakoor Rather. The book is published by Speaking Tiger, it talks about Kashmir's pristine past, its grievous present and always-uncertain future. It also includes historical and political information about Kashmir as well as environmental issues that are seldom talked about.
Besides talking about various aspect of life in the Valley, the author also describes in detail how different characters pop up in its streets during different seasons: "life-size scarecrows during summers to frighten the unrelenting birds hovering over the paddy fields, and the ceremonial snowmen that delight the neighbourhood children celebrating the much-awaited snowfall".

Book Titled 'Elephant in The Womb'

Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin is making her debut as an author, with her first book titled "Elephant In The Womb". The book, which is yet to be released, is an illustrated non-fiction book on motherhood. It is illustrated by Valeriya Polyanychko and published by Penguin Random House India (PRHI). The book narrates about pregnancy and parenting for mothers, expectant mothers, and "anyone even thinking about motherhood".

Meghan Markle to Launch Children's Book

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is set to release her first children's book which revolves around the "special bond" between father and son. Markle's debut book called 'The Bench' will be published on June 8 and was inspired by Prince Harry and their son, Archie. According to Archwell, the organisation founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the book captures the evolving and expanding relationship between fathers and son and reminds us of the many ways that love can take shape and be expressed in a modern family.
