Jindal Foundation Honoured with CSR TIMES Gold Award

  • The Jindal Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel, was awarded the prestigious CSR TIMES Award in the Gold Category for Sports Promotion. H.E. Ms Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to India, presented the award to Mr Prashant Hota, President & Group Head (CSR) of Jindal Steel, at the 12th CSR Summit in New Delhi.

Kerala Announces Kathakali and Classical Arts Awards

  • The Government of Kerala announced the State Kathakali Awards, Pallavur Appu Marar Vadya Puraskaram, and Keraleeya Nritta-Natya Puraskaram for 2023, honouring veterans who have contributed immensely to the preservation and promotion of Kerala's classical performing arts. The awards reflect the state's commitment to safeguarding its rich cultural heritage.
  • Kerala is renowned for its classical art forms like Kathakali, Koodiyattam, and traditional percussion instruments like Chenda and Maddalam. These awards are instituted by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi under the Department of Cultural Affairs to recognise outstanding contributions by individuals in preserving these traditions. The awards are presented annually and carry a cash prize, citation, and a plaque.

INCOIS Receives National Geospatial Practitioner Award 2025

  • The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) was conferred the National Geospatial Practitioner Award 2025 for its exceptional application of open-source spatial technologies. The award was presented during the Open Source GIS Day (Edition 2) held at IIT Bombay, recognising INCOIS's contributions to marine geospatial intelligence and data-driven ocean management.
  • INCOIS is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), headquartered in Hyderabad. It is responsible for providing ocean information and advisory services to various stakeholders, including fishermen, coastal authorities, disaster management agencies, and researchers.
  • The National Geospatial Practitioner Award is a prestigious recognition granted to institutions demonstrating innovative uses of geospatial technology.

Deepika Sehrawat Wins Prestigious Poligras Magic Skill Award

  • In a historic achievement for Indian sports, Deepika Sehrawat won the Poligras Magic Skill Award for her extraordinary solo goal against the Netherlands during the 2024–25 FIH Hockey Pro League. This recognition reflects both her individual brilliance and India's growing impact in international women's hockey.
  • The Poligras Magic Skill Award is a fan-voted international recognition given by the FIH to the most creative and skilful play in the Pro League season. Deepika's victory is notable as it marks the first time an Indian—male or female—has won this award, highlighting the rise of Indian women in global hockey.

Droupadi Murmu Confers the Prestigious Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards

  • Indore once again retained its title as India's cleanest city for the eighth consecutive year. Surat secured the second position, while Navi Mumbai ranked third in the central government's annual cleanliness survey. The ninth edition of the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards was conferred by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held in New Delhi. The President highlighted that cleanliness is one of the most important aspects of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and urged countrymen to move forward in making the country clean, healthy and developed. She emphasised that cleanliness has been a core element of the country's cultural and spiritual consciousness since ancient times.

President Murmu Confers Kalinga Ratna Award 2024 to Dharmendra Pradhan

  • President Droupadi Murmu presented the Kalinga Ratna Award-2024 to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at an event in Cuttack, Odisha. The award ceremony was held during the 600th birth anniversary celebrations of Adikabi Sarala Das, a revered 15th-century Odia poet, organised by the Sarala Sahitya Sansad.
  • The Kalinga Ratna Award, presented annually by the Sarala Sahitya Sansad, recognises individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of education, literature, culture, or public service.

Sudanese-Scottish Author Leila Aboulela Wins 2025 PEN Pinter Prize

  • Leila Aboulela, a Sudanese-Scottish writer, was named the winner of the 2025 PEN Pinter Prize. The award was announced in London by English PEN, in recognition of her powerful writing that explores faith, migration, and the lives of Muslim women. She will receive the award in a ceremony in October.
  • The PEN Pinter Prize is given to writers whose work shows truth, courage, and a deep understanding of society. Leila Aboulela was chosen for her honest and brave storytelling.

Telangana Wins National Award for Battery Manufacturing

  • Telangana bagged the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) Industry Excellence Award 2025 under the category of State Leadership – Battery Manufacturing.
  • The award was given during the 11th India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2025, held in New Delhi. This honour highlights Telangana's efforts in promoting battery manufacturing and clean energy solutions.
  • The IESA Industry Excellence Award 2025 was received by S. K. Sharma, Director of Electronics and EV&ESS, on behalf of the Telangana government.
