IIT Kanpur Bags 'STEM Impact Award' for Impactful Technology Transfer Activities

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, renowned for its pioneering technology innovations, was honoured with the prestigious STEM Impact Awards 2024 for engaging in impactful technology transfer activities, during the annual STEM Summit - 2024, held in Bengaluru.
STEM (Society for Technology Management) is a non-profit organisation providing a facilitative environment for Technology Transfer Processes and professional development of technology management professionals in Life Sciences, Material Sciences, IT, Engineering, Law, and others.
IIT Kanpur was bestowed this award for the third consecutive time, in recognition of the socio-economic impact created by the technology transfer of the invention of a 'Haptic Smartwatch for the Blind and Visually Impaired'.
On behalf of IIT Kanpur, Professor Ankush Sharma, Professor In-charge, Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur; and Professor Siddhartha Panda, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Coordinator of the National Centre of Flexible Electronics, (NCFlexE), IIT Kanpur jointly received the award from Alwin Wong, Chairman, Association of Technology Transfer Professional.

REC Secures Best Green Bond - Corporate Award at the Asset Triple A Awards 2024

REC Limited, a Maharatna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC, was bestowed with the prestigious Best Green Bond - Corporate Award at The Asset Triple A Awards for Sustainable Finance 2024.
REC received the award for issuance of $750 million USD Green Bonds in April 2023 which was also the first USD Green Bond issuance from India post India's assumption of G20 Presidency and the largest ever Senior Green Bond Tranche by a South or South-East Asian issuer.
The award underscores REC Limited's unwavering commitment to sophisticated capital market instruments and customized financing solutions in advancing sustainable finance and fostering environmental stewardship. This recognition represents a milestone in REC Limited's dedication to support initiatives that drive positive environmental impact and foster sustainable development.

P. T. Usha Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award by SJFI and DSJA

Legendary sprinter and current President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), P. T. Usha, was honoured with the prestigious 'Lifetime Achievement' award. This accolade was presented to her by the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) and Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA), recognising her extraordinary contributions to Indian athletics.
P. T. Usha, often hailed as the 'Queen of Indian track and field', was presented with a medallion, a citation, and a memento, signifying the high esteem in which she is held for her stellar sporting career.

Priest Ishwari Prasad Namboodiri Honoured with the Shankar Smriti Award

Priest Ishwari Prasad Namboodiri, the chief priest (Rawal) of the world-renowned Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand, was honoured with the Shankar Smriti Award in Kerala. This recognition marked a significant acknowledgement of his dedication and service to the spiritual domain, enhancing the rich tapestry of Indian religious practices.
Awarded annually during the 103rd Malliyoor Bhagavat Hamsa Smarana Utsav in Kerala's Kottayam district, the Shankar Smriti Award celebrates outstanding contributions to spirituality, art, and service. The Malliyoor Bhagavat Hamsa Smriti Trust presents this award to individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to ritual practice, meditation, and the pursuit of spiritual service. The award comprises a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a plaque, and a citation.

Grammy Awards 2024

Musicians Shankar Mahadevan, and Zakir Hussain made India proud on a global platform as their fusion band Shakti clinched the Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Album for their latest release, 'This Moment'. The 66th annual Grammy Awards 2024 were held in Los Angeles.
'This Moment' features 8 songs created by John McLaughlin (guitar, guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V. Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
The Grammy Awards (stylized as GRAMMY), or simply known as the Grammys, are awards presented by the Recording Academy of the United States to recognise 'outstanding' achievements in the music industry.
They are regarded by many as the most prestigious and significant awards in the music industry worldwide. They were originally called the Gramophone Awards, as the trophy depicts a gilded gramophone.
The first award ceremony was held simultaneously in two locations on May 4, 1959, the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and the Park Sheraton Hotel in New York City, New York, with 28 Grammys awarded.

Maha Gaurav 2024 Award Presented to Nikhil Wagh

Nikhil Mukund Wagh, who works as a Public Relations Officer at Goa Shipyard Limited, was given the 'Maha Gaurav 2024' award. This award was handed to him by Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The award is a big deal because it recognised Nikhil's great work in public relations.

Bharat Ratna to Lal Krishna Advani

Lal Krishna Advani, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the 7th Deputy Prime Minister, is set to be honoured with the prestigious 'Bharat Ratna' award, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Advani served as the Information and Broadcasting Minister in the Janata Party in 1975 during the Morarji Desai government. A key figure alongside Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he played a pivotal role in establishing the BJP in 1980.
Notably, Advani gained prominence for leading the Ram Janmabhoomi movement in the 1990s, advocating for the construction of a temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
During the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rule, Advani held significant positions as the deputy prime minister and home minister, contributing significantly to the government. In recent years, he has taken a step back from active political engagements due to health issues.
