World Protein Day

World Protein Day, celebrated annually on February 27, aims to raise awareness about the importance of protein in human nutrition. It highlights the health benefits of adequate protein intake while addressing the challenges of protein deficiency. This observance also underscores the role of protein-rich foods in enhancing global nutritional security, ensuring better health and well-being for individuals worldwide.
World Protein Day was initiated by the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) to educate people on the importance of protein in nutrition and health.
Over the years, World Protein Day has grown into a global campaign, with participation from organisations, institutions, nutrition experts, and individuals.
In India, National Protein Day is also observed on February 27, aligning with the global observance.

World NGO Day

Every year, World NGO Day is observed on February 27 to recognise and celebrate the contributions of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) worldwide. The day highlights the efforts of NGOs in addressing social, economic, and environmental issues while promoting humanitarian work across various sectors.
World NGO Day was officially recognised in 2010 and was first celebrated on February 27, 2014. The day was suggested by Marcis Liors Skadmanis, a social entrepreneur from Latvia, to acknowledge the vital role of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in global development.
The theme for World NGO Day 2025 is 'Empowering Grassroots Movements for a Sustainable Future.' This theme highlights the importance of local NGOs in fostering sustainable development and making a lasting impact on society.

RBI Launches Financial Literacy Week 2025 with a Focus on Women's Prosperity

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched the tenth edition of Financial Literacy Week (FLW) 2025, with the theme "Financial Literacy: Women's Prosperity."
According to the RBI, the FLW 2025 is being observed from February 24 and 28, 2025.
The top management and regional heads of the Reserve Bank, NABARD and heads of select commercial banks attended the launch ceremony.
The event was inaugurated by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, who emphasised the importance of empowering women to play a significant role in driving the country's inclusive and sustained economic growth.

Central Excise Day

Every year on February 24, India observes Central Excise Day, which has great administrative and historical significance. On this day in 1944, the Central Excise and Salt Act was established and put into force. The purpose of the day is to honour the Central Excise and Customs officials' relentless efforts to protect the country's economy.
The Central Excise and Salt Act was established on February 24, 1944. It is believed that this cleared the path for the nation's excise agency to be established.
To remember the Central Excise and Salt Act, which was passed to regulate and oversee the manufacturing of salt and other manufactured goods, people observe this day.
The Act, which was passed to amend the law about salt and central duties, was a combination of eleven Acts on excise duties. This Act was subsequently renamed the Central Excise Act, 1944 in 1966.

World Peace and Understanding Day

Every year, people across the globe celebrate World Peace and Understanding Day on February 23 with great splendour. The World Peace and Understanding Day also termed as Special Day, has its own importance as it encourages harmony, compassion, and collaboration among individuals hailing from different religions, cultures and geography.
The day commemorates the first meeting of Rotary International —an NGO dedicated to humanitarian service, peace, and goodwill across the world —that took place in Chicago, US.

World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day is an annual celebration observed on February 22 by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide. It is a day dedicated to promoting international friendship and harmony, sisterhood and raising awareness and empowering the Girl Scouts and Guides around the world and addressing the issues faced by young girls and women.
World Thinking Day was first celebrated in 1926 when representatives from Girl Guide and Girl Scout organisations around the world gathered for the 4th World Conference at the Edith Macy Conference Centre in New York, USA. The date was selected in honour of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting Movement, and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, the first World Chief Guide, as they both shared the same birthday.
The theme for World Thinking Day 2025 is 'Our Story.'
