FIR Lodged against Shakib Al Hasan over Alleged Murder Charges during Bangladesh Unrest
Star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was named as one of the accused in connection with an alleged murder that took place during the protests (in August 2024) and violence in Bangladesh which left hundreds dead.
The murder case was filed by Rafiqul Islam, the father of the deceased Mohammed Rubel at Dhaka's Adabor police station and apart from Shakib, PM Sheikh Hasina, and many former ministers and lawmakers from the party are among the accused.

Delhi Computer Trainer Surpasses Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar's Number of Guinness World Records
A computer trainer and former JNU employee, Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, surpassed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of 19 Guinness World Records.
Chaudhary, a resident of Delhi's Kirari Suleman Nagar village, carved a niche for himself by establishing 20 Guinness World Records in the field of typing.
From fastest typing blindfolded, typing with a mouth stick, to fastest time to type the alphabet with the nose, the 43-year-old has set several records and registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
His latest record was set in typing backward blindfolded in record five seconds.
Tendulkar, regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, holds 19 Guinness World Records titles under his name, according to the Guinness official website.
Former CSIR Director-General Girish Sahni Passes Away at 68
Dr. Girish Sahni, the former director-general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), passed away at the age of 68.
Dr. Sahni's journey with CSIR began in 1991 when he joined the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) in Chandigarh. His dedication and expertise led to his appointment as the director of IMTECH in 2005, a position he held until 2015 when he was elevated to the role of CSIR director-general.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das was ranked as the top central banker globally for the second year in a row, receiving an "A+" rating in the 2024 Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards.
This recognition highlights Governor Das's performance in key areas such as inflation control, economic growth, currency stability, and interest rate management.
The annual report, published by Global Finance magazine since 1994, evaluates central bank governors from 101 countries and regions, including the European Union and several regional central banks.
The rankings are determined based on a grading scale from A to F, assessing performance in key areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability, and interest rate management. An 'A' represents outstanding performance, while an 'F' denotes complete failure.

World's Oldest Person, Maria Branyas Morera, Dies
The world's oldest person, Spain's Maria Branyas Morera, who was born in the US in 1907 and lived through two world wars, died at the age of 117.
Guinness World Records had officially acknowledged Branyas's status as the world's oldest person in January 2023 after the death of the French nun Lucile Randon aged 118. In the wake of Branyas's death, the oldest living person in the world is Japan's Tomiko Itooka, who was born on May 23, 1908 and is 116 years old, according to the US Gerontology Research Group.
The oldest verified person to have ever lived was Jeanne Louise Calment, a Frenchwoman who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days.

Former Indian Army Chief General S. Padmanabhan Passes Away
Former Chief of Army Staff General Sundararajan Padmanabhan, affectionately known as "Paddy" in army circles, passed away. He was 83. He served as the Chief of Army Staff from September 30, 2000 to 31 December 31, 2002.
General Padmanabhan was an alumnus of the prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehra Dun, and the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla in Pune. He was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery after graduating from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on December 13, 1959.
Before being appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, he was the GOC of Southern Command.
He retired on December 31, 2002, after completing more than 43 years of distinguished military service.
ICG DG Rakesh Pal Dies
Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Rakesh Pal, died of a severe cardiac arrest in Chennai. He was 59. He was in Chennai to participate in the Coast Guard function led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Rakesh Pal, was a flag officer of the Indian Coast Guard. He served as the 25th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. Pal hailed from Uttar Pradesh. After his schooling, he attended the Indian Naval Academy and joined the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in January 1989
He had worked with the Coast Guard for 34 years and became the Director General in July 2023. He was honoured with the Vishist Seva medal for his tremendous contribution to the modernisation and development of the Indian Coast Guard.
