PM Modi Hands over Light Combat Helicopters to IAF Chief
Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the indigenously built light combat helicopters (LCH), developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, to the Indian Air Force chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari. He also handed over indigenously developed drones and UAVs during the 'Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv' in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi to the Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane.
The initiative is a part of boosting the nation's self-reliance in the defence sector.
The Light Combat Helicopters which incorporate advanced technologies and stealth features for effective combat roles are expected to boost India's ability to remain self-reliant. Earlier, defence secretary Ajay Kumar said the LCH is the only attack helicopter that can land and take off at an altitude of 5,000 m with a considerable load of weapons and fuel.

Indian Navy Conducts Security Exercise 'Prasthan'
The Indian Navy conducted a security exercise, called "Prasthan", in the Offshore Development Area (ODA) off the coast of Mumbai.
The exercise, conducted by the Headquarters Western Naval Command, is held every six months.
The exercise aimed to integrate maritime stakeholders, including the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, ONGC, Port Trust, Customs, State Fisheries department and Marine Police, towards refining standard operating procedures for response to various contingencies that could occur in the ODAs.
The exercise was conducted on the MHN platform of ONGC located about 94 nautical miles west of Mumbai.

PM Narendra Modi Hands over DRDO-designed Electronic Warfare System 'Shakti'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally handed over Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) designed Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) system 'Shakti' for naval ships to the Indian Navy at a ceremony in Jhansi.
The ceremony was held as part of 'Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv' at Jhansi.
Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) System 'Shakti' has been designed and developed by Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL) Hyderabad a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for Capital Warships of the Indian Navy for the interception, detection, classification, identification and jamming of conventional and modern Radars.
BDL Inks Export Contract with Airbus Defense & Space for CMDS
Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) signed an export contract with Airbus Defense & Space, Spain for supply of Counter Measures Dispensing System (CMDS). Under the contract, BDL will supply its in-house developed CMDS to Airbus.
The contract, which is valued at US$ 21 million approximately, was signed by BDL director (technical) N.P. Diwakar, and senior vice-president Airbus Defense and Space, S.A.U., Arnal Didier Dominique.
BDL is expanding its footprints in the global market by offering its products to friendly foreign nations in tune with the policies of the government aimed towards 'ease of doing business' with foreign countries.

India Undertakes Airlift Drills in Eastern Ladakh
India carried out a mega airlift exercise displaying its capability to transport military equipment and provide logistics support to the troops deployed in the high-altitude areas of eastern Ladakh in the harsh winter months against the backdrop of the lingering border standoff with China.
The joint airlift exercise codenamed 'Operation Hercules' was undertaken by the Indian Air Force and Indian Army.
The aim of the high-intensity airlift was to strengthen the logistics supply in the Northern sector and to augment winter stocking in the operational areas.

Egypt Activates Rafale Contract
Egypt's contract with France for a further 30 Dassault Rafale combat aircraft came into force on 15 November.
The manufacturer announced that the contract signed on 4 May to bring Egypt's total Rafale fleet from 24 up to 54 aircraft has now been activated.
As announced earlier in the year, Egypt is to acquire the additional Rafales for EUR3.8 billion (USD4.6 billion) via a 10-year loan.
Egypt signed for its first 24 Rafales (16 Rafale B/DM two-seaters and eight Rafale C/EM single-seaters) in early 2015, with deliveries commencing later the same year and running through to late 2017. Neither the composition of this latest order nor its delivery timeline have yet been revealed.
Belarus Eyes Iskander Missiles amid Border Crisis with Poland
Amid a rapidly escalating border row with Poland, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko renewed his request with Russian President Vladimir Putin to acquire Iskander missile systems for his country's armed forces.
The authoritarian leader's request comes as ties between Poland and Belarus have become increasingly strained over the past weeks.
