Akshaya Tritiya Festival Celebrated All over the Country

  • The festival of Akshaya Tritiya was celebrated all over the country. People believe that the festival brings good luck and success. On this day, people pray to deities to seek blessings and begin ventures to bring good fortune. Many people also buy gold on this day.
  • Parshuram Jayanti was also being celebrated across the country. Lord Parshuram is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
  • In his Mann Ki Baat Programme on All India Radio, in April 2022 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had wished people on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Parshuram Jayanti.

Satyajit Ray Film Festival Organized in Mumbai

  • A Ray film festival was organised by the National Museum of Indian Cinema, Mumbai. He is the only Indian director who received the Oscar Award for his rare mastery of works and profound humanistic approach. After viewing Pather Panchali, renowned film director, Martin Scorsese exclaimed that the movie emerged from the core of Indian rural culture, nothing derived from the culture of other countries. This is the lesson the path-breaking movie disseminates to the viewer.
  • Meanwhile, a three-day Satyajit Ray Film Festival to mark the legend's Birth Anniversary was also held in multiple cities, including Mumbai. Director Anik Dutta's film 'Aparajito- a tribute to Satyajit Ray' was the opening film. It portrays Ray's remarkable efforts in making his debut film 'Pather Panchali'. Post the screening of the 135-minute Bengali film, the cast and crew including Director Anik Dutta and actor Jeetu Kamal interacted with the audience.

Eid-ul-Fitr is Being Celebrated Across the Country; President, V.Prez, and PM Extend Greetings

  • Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the country. The festival marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan. Prayers were offered in Eidgahs and grand mosques after a gap of two years due to Covid pandemic.
  • In Gulf countries, Eid was celebrated a day before. The date of Eid-ul-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon on the previous night.
  • The Prime Minister in his message expressed hope that the auspicious occasion will enhance the spirit of togetherness and brotherhood in the society. He also wished for everyone's good health and prosperity.

Flipkart & West Bengal Inks Deal to Support Artisans

  • Flipkart inked an MoU with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles (MSME&T) Department, Government of West Bengal. The deal was signed to train and support local artisans, weavers, and handicraft makers to utilise the Flipkart platform to scale their local products nationally. Flipkart Samarth programme was designed to empower artisans/weavers with ecosystem support.

Chandigarh Festival Celebrates Myriad Musical Genres

  • The 51st edition of Pracheen Kala Kendra's week-long All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan was held at the Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. Named after maestro Gayanacharya Bhaskarbua Bhakhle, it featured performances by both young and established artistes.

India Art Fair 2022: 'Masterpieces' Celebrates 200 Glorious Years of Indian Art

  • On display was artwork by MF Husain, SH Raza, Gulammohammed Sheikh, A Ramachandran, Atul Dodiya, Bharti Kher and Jitish Kallat, and several others. Thousands of artworks, put together by over 60 galleries and 14 institutional participants were on display in India Art Fair 2022.
  • Apart from workshops and panel discussions, the fair saw numerous new books, including a braille book The Art of Benode Behari Mukherjee by Kolkata Centre for Creativity, a book on ceramicist PR Daroz titled Fire In the Soul, published by Gallerie Nvya, and a book documenting Indian sculpture, Moulded Magic: Sculpture on a Bench, presented by Chawla Art Gallery.
  • When the Covid-induced lockdown was first announced in India in March 2020, it had just been over a month that the fair had wrapped up. As a result, the 2021 edition was not held.

Divya Kala Shakti Cultural Event Held At Mumbai

  • The colorful cultural event "Divya Kala Shakti: Witnessing the Abilities in Disabilities" was organized, by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), Govt. of India in Mumbai. The inauguration began with the Indian National Anthem in Indian Sign Language was followed by a continuous demonstration of potentials of 86 children who are differently abled, in a colourful display of stage through fifteen unique events in the form of dance, music, puppetry, acrobatics etc. in classical, folk and modern style.
  • The children and youth with different disabilities from the states in the western region such as Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Daman & Diu participated in this event.
