Woman AI Innovator from Alappuzha Bags International Prize

Sreya Francis, an artificial intelligence (AI) innovator from Cherthala, won the AIconics Solutions Implementer of the Year award at the AI Summit held in New York.
The prize is given to individuals who have developed in-house innovation and successfully implemented AI to drive meaningful change and business growth for their brand. Francis, who works as head of technical innovation at Farm Mutual Re in Ontario, Canada, emerged as the winner beating a line-up of five shortlisted AI innovators.

Climate Champions: Michelle Zárate Palomec and Sebastian Mwaura Win UN Awards

Amidst the global efforts to combat climate change, two remarkable individuals, Michelle Zárate Palomec from Mexico and Sebastian Mwaura from Kenya, were winners of the UN Global Climate Action Awards. Their outstanding contributions, aimed at creating sustainable, resilient, and equitable communities, were celebrated during the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai.
Zárate Palomec leads initiatives within Espacio de Encuentro de las Culturas Originarias to provide clean and sufficient water to marginalized indigenous communities in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Her work addresses water scarcity challenges and combats social and gender inequalities exacerbated by water pollution.
Co-founder of Yna Kenya, Mwaura was recognised for his efforts in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles.
His organisation focuses on establishing a robust charging network powered by renewable energy sources, while also creating employment opportunities for women through the HerGo program in the e-mobility transport sector.

Indian-Origin Novelist Meira Chand Receives Singapore's Highest Arts Award

Indian-origin writer Meira Chand was among the three Singaporeans conferred the Cultural Medallion, the city-state's most prestigious arts accolade, in recognition of their artistic excellence and contribution to enriching the country's arts and culture.
Meira Chand, fellow novelist Suchen Christine Lim and Malay dance veteran Osman Abdul Hamid received the award from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at a ceremony held at the Istana.
Meira Chand is an award-winning novelist known for her depiction of multicultural societies. Her 'The Painted Cage' (1986) was longlisted for the prestigious Booker Prize.

President Draupadi Murmu Gives National Award to Narayan Seva Sansthan's President

Prashant Agrawal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, was honoured with the prestigious National Award for 'Best Personality- Empowerment of Differently-abled' by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
The event, held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Virendra Kumar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, along with Ramdas Athawale, Pratima Bhoumik, and A. Narayan Swami.
Recognised for his outstanding contributions, Prashant Agrawal has led initiatives in establishing residential schools, and vocational rehabilitation centres, and providing assistive devices for differently-abled individuals.
Agrawal dedicated the recognition to the beneficiaries of Narayan Seva Sansthan. The organisation, committed to serving humanity and disability causes since 1985.
