World Television Day

World Television Day is celebrated annually on November 21 to draw attention to the influence of television on people and society. The UN General Assembly set this observance in December 1996 in honour of the first World Television Forum that happened on November 21-22, 1996.

World Philosophy Day

World Philosophy Day is an international day proclaimed by UNESCO celebrated every 3rd Thursday of November (on November 21 in 2024).
In 2005 the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed that World Philosophy Day would be celebrated every third Thursday of November. In establishing World Philosophy Day UNESCO strives to promote an international culture of philosophical debate that respects human dignity and diversity. The Day encourages academic exchange and highlights the contribution of philosophical knowledge in addressing global issues.
The theme for World Philosophy Day 2024 is "Philosophy: Bridging Social Gaps." This theme highlights the vital role of philosophy in mending the social fabric and fostering a more cohesive society.

World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Day

World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Day has been observed every year on the third Wednesday of November since 2002. It is a global healthcare event to raise awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), amongst the public around the world. Activities have been held in over 50 countries by various organisations, making this day one of the world's most important COPD awareness and education events.

World Children's Day

World Children's Day is observed every year on November 20. This is a global celebration dedicated to the welfare, rights, and future of children.
World Children's Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day. In 1959, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child on November 20. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The theme for World Children's Day 2024 is 'Listen to the Future.'

National Integration Day

National Integration Day, observed every year on November 19, marks the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi, the first woman Prime Minister of India. As the nation continues to evolve into a global power, National Integration Day serves as a reminder of Gandhi's dedication to strengthening the fabric of national unity and integration, an essential aspect of India's continued growth and success.
National Integration Day was officially introduced by the Indian National Congress in 1985 to commemorate Indira Gandhi's invaluable contribution to India's unity.

International Men's Day

International Men's Day, celebrated on November 19 every year, is dedicated to men and their contributions to society. The day seeks to celebrate the success and progress made by men in economic, social, cultural, and political spheres and their contributions to family, institutions and society at large.
The idea of International Men's Day was discussed since the 1960s, but it was first conceptualised and observed in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a professor at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago. Prof Teelucksingh selected November 19 to observe Men's Day as it marked his father's birth anniversary. Since then, it has been celebrated every year; currently, nearly 80 countries celebrate the day.
The theme for International Men's Day 2024, "Positive Male Role Models," highlights the importance of fostering open conversations about men's mental health and creating supportive environments where men can thrive.

It is a global event dedicated to honoring the millions of lives lost or severely affected by road traffic accidents. This day also highlights the suffering of victims, their families, and communities, while advocating for stronger action to prevent road crashes and their consequences.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR) is observed on the third Sunday of November each year (November 17 in 2024). It is a global event dedicated to honouring the millions of lives lost or severely affected by road traffic accidents. This day also highlights the suffering of victims, their families, and communities, while advocating for stronger action to prevent road crashes and their consequences.
The idea of a day to honor road traffic victims began with church services in the UK in 1993 and 1994.
These services were coordinated by RoadPeace, a charity for road traffic victims established in 1992.
In 1995, RoadPeace, along with other road victim organizations under the European Federation of Road Traffic Victims (FEVR), agreed to observe a common day of remembrance on the third Sunday of November.
In 2004, the UN Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC) considered establishing a global day to emphasize road safety, and the endorsement of the World Day of Remembrance was suggested.
On October 26, 2005, the UN General Assembly adopted the World Day of Remembrance as an official recognition for road traffic victims and their families.

International Students' Day

International Students' Day, celebrated globally on November 17, is a day that honors the spirit of student activism, the role of students in social change, and their contributions to shaping the world. The day acknowledges the struggles and aspirations of students while promoting the importance of education and equality.
International Students' Day was first observed on November 17, 1941, in response to the tragic events that occurred during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. On this day, 1,200 students were arrested, and several were executed for protesting the regime. The Nazi forces also shut down universities and sent students to concentration camps. This day was chosen to honor those students who fought for their rights and, by extension, all students who have sacrificed for the cause of freedom, education, and human rights.
The theme for International Students' Day 2024 focuses on the idea that "Students as Change-makers for a Better World". This theme highlights the ongoing fight for equality, freedom of speech, and the right to education for all. It encourages students worldwide to engage in activism, stand for justice, and create positive societal changes through education and collaboration.
