Prahlad Singh Patel Inaugurates the 'Chhatrasal Convention Centre at Khajuraho

  • Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh inaugurated the 'Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Centre at Khajuraho developed under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of Ministry of Tourism in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. Smt. Usha Thakur, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Member of Parliament, Khajuraho Constituency, Shri Virendra Kumar, Member of Parliament, Tikamgarh, Pushpendra Singh Chandel, Member of Parliament, Hamirpur, Shri Arvind Singh, Secretary (Tourism), GoI; Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture), Government of Madhya Pradesh, Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, GoI and other dignitaries and officials of Government of India and State Government of Madhya Pradesh also graced the occasion.
  • The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan assured full cooperation of state government in developing all tourism places in the state with the help of Central Government. He dwelt upon the various measures taken by State Government in developing many tourist places in this state. He also said that under the able guidance of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi development of many tourism places including of tourism places are undergoing in the state.

Indian Video App Moj Announces Partnership to Promote Travel to UAE

  • Short video app Moj announced a partnership with UAE's Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) for travel content made by Indian creators.
  • Fourteen creators, including Mohak Narang, Surbhi Rathore, Abraz Khan and Anmol Bhatia, will make a five-day trip to Ras Al Khaimah and share videos on Moj about their travel there.
  • The trip will provide Moj creators an opportunity to explore over 7,000 years of history, traditional culture, and magnificent landscapes of Ras Al Khaimah, which is home to the longest zipline in the world.
  • Travel and entertainment-related content is a key focus area for Moj and with the partnership with RAKTDA.

Saudi Tourism Authority Opens UK Offices

  • The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) has opened a commercial office for the UK and Ireland as part of its strategy to engage the tourism trade in key source markets.
  • The move is part of a plan to have representative offices in 15 markets around the world including China, India and the GCC among others, to expand the reach of the activities of the body.
  • STA is focused on enhancing its ability to deliver a truly global scale offering by investing resources in the network that will drive our business for the future.
  • The UK and Ireland office will be responsible for trade marketing activities, expanding the reach and relevance of Saudi's tourism offer and working with tour operators.

New Tourism Policy

  • India plans to unveil a new tourism policy soon, Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel announced in Rajya Sabha, saying the country has embarked on a journey to achieve the top ranking in the sector by 2024 despite challenges.
  • About a month ago, the Centre circulated a new proposed tourism policy among states for its finalisation. It focuses on developing medical, religious and other facets of tourism and offering new destinations other than the popular ones such as the Taj Mahal and the Qutub Minar.

  • Capitalising on the massive global vaccination drive against Covid-19, India Tourism, Singapore, is organising a series of webinars cum B2B sessions titled 'India Tourism Reconnect' in the ASEAN region. The meets aim to reconnect the Indian tourism industry with stakeholders in key markets and start preparing for resumption of business as and when it is announced.
