PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Banjara Virasat Museum in Maharashtra

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Banjara Virasat Museum in Pohardevi, Washim, Maharashtra, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Banjara community. The museum, a four-story structure, houses 13 galleries showcasing the legacy of the Banjara community and its leaders. Modi also paid floral tributes to Sant Sevalal Maharaj and Sant Ramrao Maharaj, spiritual icons of the community.

Nagaland Gears Up for 25th Hornbill Festival Celebration

  • The Department of Tourism in Nagaland is set to celebrate the 25th Hornbill Festival, marking its silver jubilee from December 1 to 10, 2024 at the Heritage Village, Kisama. G. Hukugha Sema, Commissioner and Secretary for Tourism, expressed excitement, stating it's going to be a remarkable festival.
  • The Hornbill Festival came to life in 2000.
  • The Hornbill Festival is an effort to preserve and protect the diverse cultures of tribal communities by the Government of Nagaland.
  • The festival is named after the Hornbill bird, which is deeply respected in the state and features prominently in Naga folktales and songs.

US Returns 297 Antiquities, Including 4000-year-old Copper Figure, to India

  • US returned 297 priceless antiquities, including those artefacts that are almost 4,000 years old and originate in northern part of India.
  • The Ministry of External Affair said that antiquities that had been stolen or trafficked from India.
  • The total number of cultural artefacts returned from US to India since 2016 now stands at 578.
  • In a symbolic handing over, a select few pieces were showcased to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden on the sidelines of their bilateral meeting in Wilmington, Delaware.
  • Modi thanked President Biden for his support in the return of these artefacts.

The 19th Divya Kala Mela Unveiled in Visakhapatnam

  • The 19th edition of the Divya Kala Mela was inaugurated in Visakhapatnam by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, S. Abdul Nazeer, alongside dignitaries like Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, and other MPs. The event provided concessional loans of Rs. 40 lakh to 10 Divyang beneficiaries under NDFDC schemes and distributed assistive devices with the support of CSR partners such as HPCL, GAIL India, and IOCL.
  • The Mela runs from September 19 to 29, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, at Marine Ground, Andhra University.

Rashtrapati Nilayam to Host Bhartiya Kala Mahotsav from September 29 to October 6

  • Rashtrapati Nilayam in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North-East Region and the Ministry of Culture will host the first edition of Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav from September 29 to October 6, 2024.
  • The eight-day long celebration will showcase the rich and diverse cultural heritage of our North-Eastern states.
  • Visitors will get acquainted with the art, culture, crafts, and culinary diversity of the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
  • More than 300 artists and artisans from these states would be participating in the event.
  • Honourable President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the Mahotsav on September 28, 2024.
