NCERT Introduces Operation Sindoor Modules

  • National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) unveiled new curriculum modules on Operation Sindoor, calling it a 'saga of courage' and a transformative moment in India's military and political response to terrorism. The modules are designed for Classes 3 to 12, narrating the events leading to and following the May 2025 precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
  • The operation was named 'Sindoor', symbolising solidarity with the widows of the victims. Sindoor, traditionally worn by married Hindu women, was chosen to represent empathy, unity, and a vow to uphold national dignity.

Lok Sabha Passes Bill to Establish IIM Guwahati in Assam

  • The Lok Sabha passed the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, paving the way for the establishment of a new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Guwahati, Assam. India's First Private Mathematics Research Institute Comes in Mumbai

  • India's first privately funded mathematics research institute was launched in Mumbai. The Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute (LMSI) was inaugurated in the presence of global dignitaries from the field of mathematics, including Dr. Manjul Bhargava, the first Indian-origin winner of the Fields Medal.
  • The Lodha Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lodha Group, has backed the initiative with a major endowment. Last year (2024), the Lodha family donated about Rs. 20,000 crore to the foundation to support education and research initiatives. The LMSI is the first project to come from this donation.
  • The institute will be headed by Dr. V Kumar Murty, a mathematician with significant contributions to number theory and arithmetic geometry. He had earlier served as director of the Fields Institute and professor at the University of Toronto.
