International Civil Aviation Day

  • Every year on December 7, the world commemorates International Civil Aviation Day to raise awareness about the importance of civil aviation and its substantial contribution to various sectors. The day is an occasion to recognise how air connectivity has made global travel easier and more accessible, as well as the difficulties afflicting the civil aviation sector.
  • The day commemorates the foundation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the regulatory agency of the United Nations that formulates rules and standards for international air travel. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) was established 75 years ago to ensure global aviation safety.
  • The theme for International Civil Aviation Day 2025 is 'Safe Skies & Sustainable Future for All'.

  • The 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas commemorated by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) on behalf of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, At Prerna sthal Parliament House Campus, in December 2025, near the statue of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
  • The commemoration of the 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas began with a floral tribute from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President of India, C.P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Speaker, Om Birla, Deputy Speaker Rajya Sabha, Hariwansh Narayan Singh, Leader of the opposition, Parliamentarians, and many other dignitaries who attended the VIP session in the early hours of the day.
  • In the course of time, the entire event will be opened up to the public to pay their obeisance at the feet of the life-size statue of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Parliament House Lawn. The Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Dr. Ambedkar is annually commemorated by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) on behalf of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This is done to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a visionary social reformer, jurist, and politician. He played a significant role in drafting the Indian Constitution and championed the cause of marginalized communities, especially SCs/OBCs/STs/Women. 

Armed Forces Flag Day

  • India observes December 7 as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought & continue to fight on our borders to safeguard the country's honour. Soldiers are one of the greatest assets of any country. They are the guardians of the nation and protect its citizens at all costs.
  • The idea of Armed Forces Flag Day observation every year was first decided in the year 1949 by the then Defence Minister. He set up a committee to observe a Flag Day every year on December 7. The general idea behind this was the collection of funds from people by distributing flags.

  • The five day 11th India International Science Festival (IISF) is being organised in Panchkula. This year's theme is "Science for Prosperity: Towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat". The science festival aims to promote scientific temper and innovation, while inspiring young people to contribute to the field of science and technology. 
  • Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma said that this is the first time this prestigious event is being held in North India. Thousands of students, young researchers, and science enthusiasts from various states of India will participate in this science festival. Senior scientists and researchers from ISRO, DRDO, and other leading scientific institutions will also be present and participate in various sessions and interactive programs. He added that it will include interactive sessions among scientists and various public outreach activities aligned with national needs.
