India's Foremost Documentary Film Festival MIFF 2022 Begin in Mumbai
The 17th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction, and Animation films (MIFF-2022) began with a colourful opening ceremony at the Nehru Centre, Worli in Mumbai, Maharashtra. MIFF 2022 got an overwhelming response from filmmakers across the world, receiving a whopping eight hundred and eight film entries from 30 countries. In commemoration of Bangladesh's 50 years of Independence, the country was chosen as the 'Country of Focus this year. A special package of 11 films from Bangladesh including the critically acclaimed film 'Hasina- A Daughter's Tale' will be presented at MIFF 2022.
The best film of the festival will receive the Golden Conch award, along with a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh. Other awards carry cash prizes varying from five to one lakh along with Silver Conch, trophy and certificate. This award is instituted in memory of legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram, who was closely associated with the Films Division as Honorary Chief Producer during the 1950s.

Jitendra Singh Inaugurates India's First 'Lavendar Festival' in Bhaderwah
Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated the country's first 'Lavendar festival' at Jammu's Bhaderwah where the cultivation of lavender has transformed the economy of the mountainous area. Bhaderwah in the Doda district is the birthplace of India's purple revolution. The minister described Bhaderwah in the Doda district as the birthplace of India's purple revolution.
Lavender changed the fortunes of farmers in Jammu and Kashmir under the 'Aroma Mission or Purple Revolution', an initiative of the Central government towards transforming the lives of UT's farmers' community.
The Purple or Lavender Revolution was launched in 2016 by the Union Ministry of Science & Technology through the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research's (CSIR) Aroma Mission.
The aim of the mission is to support the domestic aromatic crop-based agroeconomy by moving from imported aromatic oils to homegrown varieties. Lavender cultivation is practised in almost all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

4th Edition of State-level Shirui Lily Festival 2022 Begins in Manipur
In Manipur, the 4th Edition of State-Level Shirui Lily Festival 2022 was organised. This annual festival was organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur with an aim to create and raise awareness of the Shirui Lily flower which is also the State Flower of Manipur. The four-day-long festival has inaugurated by the Governor of Manipur La. Ganesan and the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh at Shirui Village Ground in Ukhrul district.
The festival is held around April and May as it is the blooming season of Shirui Lily. The flower is found in the Ukhrul district of Manipur only and cannot be replanted anywhere in the world. This year, some of the international rock bands performed in the festival. Every year, tourists both domestic and international attend the function.

J&K's First National Film Festival, DIPR and NFDC sign a Memorandum of Understanding
The National Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir is approaching, the Department of Information and Public Relations of J&K signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Film Development Corporation Limited. The MoU was signed by Akshay Labroo, Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, J&K, and Sh D. Ramakrishnan, General Manager, NFDC, in the presence of Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor.
The National Film Development Corporation Limited and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, J&K are co-organizing the big event, which will take place from June 15 to June 20.
The festival's goal is to highlight and promote the UT's creative environment, as well as to promote J&K as a top destination for filmmakers from throughout the world.

Ministry of Culture to Commemorate the 250th Birth Anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy from 22nd Ma...
Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the Ministry of Culture is commemorating the 250th Birth Anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy from 22nd May 2022 to 22nd May 2023. The inaugural ceremony took place at Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, Salt Lake, Kolkata, and at Science City Auditorium, Kolkata.
An iconic statue of Raja Ram Mohan Roy was unveiled by the Minister of Culture, G. Kishan Reddy in a virtual mode at Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata.
Several other events were held at Salt Lake, Science City Auditorium, Kolkata. A seminar and quiz program for children will also be organized. A multimedia presentation on various facets of the life of Raja Ram Mohan Roy was also presented.
