IP University Launches PG Diploma Programme in Bioinformatics

  • The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has announced a new programme, the PG Diploma in Bioinformatics, from the new academic session.
  • This programme is available at the Centre of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences (CEPS) located at the University's Dwarka campus. There are 20 seats available in this one-year programme.
  • Students who have completed BCA, MBBS, BSc, B.Tech (Biotech), etc. can apply for this programme.

Amitabh Kant Appointed as NIIT University Chancellor

  • NIIT University (NU) appointed Amitabh Kant, former NITI Aayog CEO and India's G20 Sherpa, as its new Chancellor (Chairperson). His appointment signals a strategic leadership transition, bringing extensive experience in economic transformation, policy-making, and technology-driven innovation. Kant succeeded K. Kasturirangan, whose tenure significantly contributed to NU's growth and reputation. With a strong emphasis on industry-aligned education and skilling, NU aims to strengthen its commitment to preparing future-ready professionals under Kant's leadership.

"Hack the Future" Hackathon at IIT Gandhinagar Organised by NSO, India Successfully Concludes

  • National Statistical Office (NSO), India in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), successfully concluded its 36-hour hackathon titled "Hack the Future" at the IITGN campus.
  • The event witnessed participation from 18 teams representing prestigious academic institutions across India which included IITs, NITs, IIITs etc. Participants tackled three innovative challenges presented to them with guidance given by mentors from the Ministry and the institute. A five jury members comprising experts from industry, academia, and the Ministry evaluated the final solutions.

Maharashtra to Implement CBSE-based Curriculum under NEP 2020 in State Schools

  • Maharashtra's Steering Committee approved the adoption of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum framework for schools in the state from class three to twelve, from the academic year 2025-26. The decision, made by School Education Minister Dada Bhuse in a written response to the Legislative Council, is to standardise education in the state and bring it in line with national standards under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
  • The shift will be done in phases, and the first phase will begin with Classes 1, 3, 5, 8, and 11.

New Zealand Government Announces Scholarship with IIT Delhi, Signs Several New MoUs

  • In a move to strengthen educational ties, New Zealand's Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, announced a NZ$260,000 scholarship package under the New Zealand Excellence Awards (NZEA) 2025. This initiative aims to support Indian students pursuing higher education in New Zealand.
  • Expanding on collaborative efforts, a Virtual Internship Programme has been introduced, offering 30 IIT Delhi students the chance to intern remotely with New Zealand companies. This programme provides practical industry experience and insights into New Zealand's innovative work culture.
  • Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between institutes of India and New Zealand to further academic collaboration:

ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan Launches Thermal Research Centre at IIT Madras

Ramakrishnan Centre of Excellence in Fluid and Thermal Science Research at IIT Madras. ISM Dhanbad Best in Country, in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025

  • The Indian School of Mines (ISM) University, Dhanbad bagged the top position in India in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2025. As many as 79 Indian institutes feature in the 15th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
  • Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad was ranked 20th globally for Engineering – Mineral and Mining, making it the country's highest-performing subject area, followed by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) in the Engineering and Technology subject and Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (deemed to be university) in Dentistry subject at 26th rank.
