Chhattisgarh Launches Scheme for Tribals

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was in Chhattisgarh during which she attended the launching of a state government scheme for tribals in Jagdalpur city in Bastar district.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was the chief guest at the event "Bharose Ka Sammelan" where 'Mukhyamantri Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana' was launched.
Under this scheme, the state government will provide annual financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 (in two instalments) to Gram Panchayats in the scheduled areas for organising tribal festivals, fairs, and religious programs.
At the event, the Chief Minister disbursed the first instalment of Rs. 5,000 each for 1,840-gram panchayats in the Bastar division, comprising seven districts.
The scheme is aimed at preserving tribal culture and traditions.

Himachal Pradesh Launches Sanjeevani Project

The Himachal Pradesh government initiated a project named Sanjeevani to uplift the livelihood of small dairy farmers and livestock owners. The project aims to enhance the lives of farmers by providing them with convenient and high-quality livestock care services at their doorstep, utilizing telemedicine and technology. This will aid in reducing the turnaround time for services and potentially prevent outbreaks.
The Animal Husbandry Department of Himachal Pradesh collaborated with Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd. (BFIL), a subsidiary of IndusInd Bank, for the National Animal Disease Control Programme-Mobile Veterinary Van (NADCP-AHD-MVU) project. The collaboration aims to provide doorstep livestock care through a toll-free telephone number that will be operational soon. The project intends to ensure the timely delivery of quality treatment to livestock, saving farmers the additional expenses of travelling for availing veterinary services like artificial insemination, medicines, vaccination, surgery, and infertility testing.

EAM Jaishankar launches 'Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project' in Uganda

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was received by Uganda Foreign Minister General Jeje Odongo and Uganda Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja on his arrival in Uganda on April 10, 2023.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on April 10 launched the 'Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project' of Varanasi, during his visit to Uganda's Kampala.
"Living in a land of the Nile, their commitment to a ghat on the Ganga reflects the confluence of our two cultures. The conservation of Varanasi's heritage underlines the cultural revival of India. This has profound global implications," he said. "Confident that many more members of the Indian community in Uganda will keep visiting Varanasi and continue their efforts for its redevelopment," he added.
Earlier he met Uganda's President Yoweri K. Museveni at his farm in Rwakitura and congratulated the country on assuming the chairship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Cabinet Approves Space Policy

Three years after opening up the space sector to private players, the Union Cabinet approved the Indian Space Policy 2023 to streamline the process of participation by private players.
The policy will clearly state the roles and responsibilities of not only private players but also bodies such as the public-private mediator IN-SPACe and the commercial arm of the department, New Space India Limited.
The Cabinet also approved setting up of LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) at Maharashtra's Hingoli. The observatory is meant to detect and track cosmic gravitational waves.

Telangana Launches 'Cool Roof' Policy to Reduce Heat Impact on Buildings

The Telangana Government launched a Cool Roof Policy to reduce temperatures in Hyderabad and other urban areas in the state.
In the first year, the State government has set a target to 'cool roof' an area of 7.5 square kilometres, including 5 sq km in Hyderabad.
The policy is aimed at reducing heat island impact and heat stress in the state.
The urban heat islands phenomenon is gaining global attention as urban centres report 2-4 degree Celcius higher than rural areas, bearing the brunt of climate change. The government will make it mandatory for all constructions beyond 600 square yards to factor in a cool roof at the design stage.
Telangana being the third most urbanised state in the country with 48 per cent the population residing in the urban areas, there is a serious need to introduce cost-effective and climate-friendly cooling solutions to counter the urban heat island effect.
