The United States military unveiled a mockup of China's HQ-16 missile at the Experimental Aircraft Association 'AirVenture Show' in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
HQ-16 is a Chinese Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system with NATO name CH-SA 16. It is based on Russia's Buk missile family.
It is designed to target aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It uses a vertical launch system for 360-degree coverage in complex terrains.

Russia Creates World's First Anti-drone Rifle Simulator

Students of the Southern Federal University (SFU) in Russia developed the world's first training platform simulator that simulates working with anti-drone rifles and drone detection systems.
This is a virtual environment where one can practice in real-world drone warfare scenarios. In the program, one can practice the skills of using different models of anti--drone guns (for example, "Pars" and "Harpy"), detectors (such as "Bulat" version 3) and drones - from FPV devices to DJI and military "Leleki-100".

Slovenia Becomes First EU Nation to Ban Arms Trade with Israel over Gaza War

Slovenia became the first European Union country to impose a complete ban on weapons trade with Israel, citing the ongoing war in Gaza.
The embargo, which includes the import, export, and transit of weapons to and from Israel, was announced by Prime Minister Robert Golob following a cabinet meeting.

Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan Assumes Charge as Vice Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan assumed charge as the 47^th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS). Soon after taking over, he paid homage to fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
An alumnus of the 71st course of the National Defence Academy, Pune, Vice Admiral Vatsayan was commissioned into the Indian Navy on January 1, 1988. A specialist in Gunnery and Missile Systems, he brings over three decades of operational, command, and staff experience to his new role.

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, having an illustrious career spanning more than 35 years, took over as Vice Chief of the Army Staff.
He succeeded Lt Gen N. S. Raja Subramani, who had assumed the appointment of the Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS) in July 2024.
