IIM-Bangalore Tops Indian Institutions in QS Executive MBA Rankings 2025
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore ranked the highest among Indian institutions in the QS Executive MBA rankings 2025. IIM Bangalore stood at rank 50, down from 41 last year. It is among the seven Indian institutions that feature in the QS Executive MBA rankings this year (2025), out of a total of 233 of the world's best executive MBA programmes. Of the seven, four are private institutions, and the other three are IIMs.

The Ministry of tribal affairs and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced the setting up of 'Space Labs' in 75 Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) across 19 states in the country.
Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India establishes EMRS to impart quality education to ST children thereby enabling them to avail of opportunities in high and professional educational courses and get gainful employment in various sectors. EMRS in addition to imparting high quality education also takes care of their nutrition and overall health and development. As on date there are 470 functional EMRS across the country.
BPCL announced that it will support the tribal affairs Ministry under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to set up the Space Labs.
Through this initiative, the Ministry seeks to bridge educational gaps and open new avenues for tribal youth in the fields of space science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). By providing exposure to space sciences at a young age, the ministry aims to lay the foundation for nurturing future scientists, technologists, and innovators from tribal communities. This project marks a significant step towards mainstreaming tribal students into India's scientific advancement. It reflects the Government's broader efforts under the NEP 2020 framework to create equitable and inclusive educational opportunities for all sections of society.
The initiative will be technically supported by the Space tutor agencies recognized by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

IIT Madras Sets New Record with 104 Ventures in 2024-25
In a stride towards innovation, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), for the first time, incubated over 100 start-ups in a single financial year. This feat fulfilled the 'Start-up 100 Mission' set by Director Professor V. Kamakoti at the start of 2024.
Through the combined labour of the IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC) and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 104 start-ups were nurtured during 2024–25.
Notably, more than half of these new ventures were founded by members of the IIT Madras community - its faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The remaining portion came from external entrepreneurs, reflecting the strength and openness of the institute's start-up ecosystem.
IIM Kozhikode Launches 4-year Honours with Research Programme
The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) launched a full-time undergraduate degree programme — the Bachelor of Management Studies (Honours with Research). This four-year BMS programme, will be delivered at the Institute's Kochi Campus.
The programme, which starts in the 2025–26 academic year, combines management education with interdisciplinary learning. In addition to a Major in Management, students can opt for stackable Minors in fields including economics and public policy, artificial intelligence and machine learning, psychology and behavioural sciences, finance and big data, liberal studies.
With flexible entry-exit options aligned with the New Education Policy (NEP), IIMK BMS will be a four-years, eight semester programme with Honours and Research.

FTII Declared 'Institution Deemed to be University
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, was officially notified as an 'Institution Deemed to be University' by the Union Ministry of Education. The move marks a milestone in the institute's journey and opens new doors for academic autonomy, curriculum flexibility, and research innovation in cinema and television studies.
FTII was established in 1960 by the Government of India and was originally known as the Film Institute of India.
The Film Institute of India was renamed the Film and Television Institute of India in 1971.

IISc Tops Times Higher Education Asia Rankings 2025
The Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025 were unveiled, showcasing the top universities in Asia. With 853 universities from 35 countries and territories included in this year's rankings, the list highlights the leading institutions excelling in research, teaching, and innovation across the continent. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) secured the top spot for Indian universities, ranked 38th overall in Asia. However, many Indian institutions saw a drop in their rankings compared to last year, signalling the evolving competition in higher education.

Both the robotics teams -- Team Matrix and Team Eureka -- of Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS), Mumbai, emerged as global finalists, competing head-to-head in an unprecedented all-DAIS Grand Final at the FIRST® Tech Challenge World Championship 2025 in Houston.
This achievement marks the first time any team from India has won the FTC World Championship, placing India firmly on the global STEM map.
Organised by FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the world championship was held at the George R. Brown Convention Centre in Houston, Texas, drawing over 50,000 attendees and 256 elite teams from more than 30 countries.
DAIS's Team Matrix, winners of the Ochoa Division, emerged as the FTC World Champions after a thrilling final against Team Eureka, champions of the Edison Division -- both representing DAIS.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati launched a new four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical Science and Engineering. The course will be conducted by the Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences and Technology (JBMSHST).
This course incorporates the expertise of IIT Guwahati, AIIMS Guwahati, and NIPER Guwahati.
