Kerala Sahitya Akademi Announces 2024 Literary Award Winners

The Kerala Sahitya Akademi announced the winners of its 2024 literary awards, recognising both emerging and established voices in Malayalam literature.
Writer G. R. Indugopan won the award for best novel for his work "Aano", while poet Anitha Thampi received the poetry award for her collection "Muringa Vazha Kariveppu".
V. Shinilal was honoured in the short story category for his work "Garisappa Aruvi Athava Oru Jalayathra".
Veteran authors K. V. Ramakrishnan and Ezhacheri Ramachandran won the prestigious Akademi Fellowship and Lifetime Contribution Award, respectively in recognition of their significant and lasting impact on Malayalam literature.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Wins Best Actor at the New York Indian Film Festival

Nawazuddin Siddiqui won the Best Actor award at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) for his role in I'm Not an Actor. JCB Prize for Literature Cancelled

In a move that has left authors, publishers, and readers stunned, the JCB Prize for Literature, India's most prestigious and highest-paying literary award, was officially discontinued. Established in 2018 by the JCB Literature Foundation, the award carried a Rs. 25 lakh cash prize for the best work of fiction by an Indian author, including translated works. The announcement, which came without a formal public statement, was confirmed, following the cancellation of the foundation's license.

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), a 100% government-owned payments bank under the Department of Posts, was conferred the prestigious Digital Payments Award 2024–25 by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance.
