Cashify Appoints Rajkummar Rao as First Brand Ambassador
Cashify, that sells and buys used smartphones and other electronic gadgets, announced that it has appointed Rajkummar Rao as its first brand ambassador. The actor has signed a multi-year contract with the company and he will promote the products across digital media platforms through campaigns and promotional activities exclusively for the smartphone buyback category.

India's 1971 Bangladesh-liberation war hero and veteran Commodore Gopal Rao, aged 94, passed away in Chennai. The decorated Naval officer, a recipient of the Mahavir Chakra (MVC) and the Veer Sena Medal (VSM) played a crucial role in the war that was fought 50 years ago.

Vandana Katariya is Uttarakhand's Women & Child Development Ambassador
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami named Indian women's hockey team player Vandana Katariya will be brand ambassador of the state's Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development. The announcement came at a program organised to felicitate the recipients of awardees of the Tilu Rauteli Award and the Anganwadi Workers Award, held at IRDT Auditorium at Survey Chowk.
Vandana woman was honoured with the Tilu Rauteli Award and 22 women were awarded Anganwadi Karyakarti Puraskar.
The recipients of the Tilu Rauteli Award were given an honorarium of Rs 31,000 and a citation. Whereas, under the Anganwadi worker award, a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and a citation was given.
Two-times Olympian Shankar Subramaniam, alias "Babu" Nayaran passed away. He was India's goalkeeper during the 1956 and 1960 Olympics. Besides representing Maharashtra in football and basketball, Narayan emerged as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in India. His decade-long career for the national team also included the stellar effort of India finishing fourth in the 1956 Olympics and representing India in the 1964 Asian Games.
Subramaniam was born in Palakkad district in Kerala, Narayan was a star in Mumbai's local circuit during his appearances for Matunga Students, Matunga Gymkhana, Caltex and Tata Sports Club. He was part of Maharashtra's Santosh Trophy-winning campaign in 1964.

Noted Kerala Sculptor, Cartoonist P.S. Banarji Passes Away
Cartoonist, sculptor and folk singer P.S. Banarji passed away at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital on Friday. He was 41.
A recipient of the Lalithakala Akademi Fellowship, Banarji was noted for his Ayyankali and Buddha sculptures at Venganur and Koduman. Known for his rendition of a string of folk songs, including the popular 'Tharaka Pennale', he was working as a graphic designer in an IT firm in the capital.

R. Aravamudan, One of ISRO's Early Pioneers Passes Away
Ramabhadran Aravamudan, a veteran of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the country's science and technology fraternity passed away.
Among the first to join ISRO (then INCOSPAR), Aravamudan rose to serve the organization as Director Satish Dhawan Space Centre (spaceport), Sriharikota and the ISRO Satellite Centre, Bengaluru.
