All 9 Museums for Tribal Freedom Fighters will be Ready by 2022-end: Govt

  • As per Tribal Affairs Ministry, all nine museums dedicated to tribal freedom fighters will be completed by the end of 2022.
  • Out of the nine museums sanctioned for tribal freedom fighters, two are nearing completion and the rest are at different stages of progress.
  • It is expected that all the museums will come into existence by the end of 2022. New museums will be sanctioned in the future in collaboration with the states.
  • The largest of these museums is being built in Rajpipla in Gujarat at a cost of Rs. 102.55 crore.
  • The rest are being built in Ranchi (Jharkhand), Lambasingi (Andhra Pradesh), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Kozhikode (Kerala), Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), Hyderabad (Telangana), Senapati (Manipur) and Kelsi (Mizoram).
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made an announcement regarding setting up tribal freedom fighters' museums in his Independence Day Speech in 2016.

Disney Ends the Historic 20th Century Fox Brand

  • Walt Disney has brought to an end one of the best-known names in the entertainment industry, 20th Century Fox.
  • It comes as the legendary House of The Mouse has rebranded one of its TV studios as 20th Television.
  • The move follows the rebranding in January of the 85-year-old company 20th Century Fox as 20th Century Studios.
  • Last year Disney completed a $71.3bn (£54.7bn) deal to buy the bulk of Rupert Murdoch's Fox media assets.
  • Disney has also renamed its other television studios, including changing ABC Studios and ABC Signature Studios to ABC Signature while Fox 21 Television Studios will become Touchstone Television.

Piyush Goyal Dedicates Railway Museum at Hubballi, Karnataka Dedicated to the Nation

  • Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi dedicated a Railway Museum at Hubballi in Karnataka through video conferencing. The event was presided over by Minister of State of Railways Suresh Angadi and was attended by other dignitaries and senior officials.
  • This Rail Museum is first of its kind in North Karnataka and second in South Western Railway after the historic Rail Museum at Mysuru.
  • Mr. Joshi said that the museum is most relevant as Hubballi is an important Railway junction historically as well. He said it will become another prominent tourist destination in the region.
  • At Hubballi Museum, the artefacts are broadly arranged in three sections, at two cottages named Malaprabha and Ghataprabha and the outdoor section.

Disney Focuses on Streaming as it Falls to a Loss

  • Disney plans to release Mulan on its Disney+ streaming site this year and launch a new streaming service outside the US next year as it tries to build on its early streaming success.
  • The new service will operate under the Star brand and stream a wider variety of content than Disney+.
  • Disney+ has already attracted 60.5 million subscribers.
  • But the media giant reported enormous losses due to the pandemic as its theme parks closed.
  • Disney lost $4.7bn (£3.6bn) in the three months to 27 June, as the virus forced it to close theme parks and delay film releases and production.
  • That was down from nearly $1.8bn profit in the same period last year.
  • It said the pandemic was responsible for a $3bn hit to its operating income - mostly due to the disruption to its theme parks, where revenues plunged 85% compared to 2019, chief financial officer Christine McCarthy said.
  • Overall revenue fell 42% compared with last year to $11.8bn.
  • As it grapples with coronavirus disruption, the firm is forging ahead with its streaming ambitions, as it tries to position itself as a rival to Netflix, Amazon and other streaming sites.
