Oxford University, XED Announce Senior Executive Leadership Programme

XED, an ed-tech firm in Asia, joined hands with Oxford University's Saïd Business School to launch the "Senior Executive Leadership Programme" (SELP) for senior leaders and C-suite executives.
The course is scheduled to begin on November 15, 2023.
This programme is a nine-month course, which has been tailored to CXOs and senior leaders seeking to enhance their operational and strategic skills from a global perspective. The experts are hoping that this will enable candidates to navigate emerging business challenges. The programme includes intensive in-class learning at Oxford's UK Campus, industry immersion in Dubai and live-online modules.
On successful completion of the programme, aspirants will join the Oxford Business Alumni Network and gain a certificate at the graduation ceremony at Oxford, UK.

Education Ministry Calls First Meet Aimed at Unifying 60 School Boards

The Ministry of Education organised a workshop in New Delhi with the aim of unifying the 60 school examination boards operating in different States and union territories under one umbrella. The workshop will study school assessments, examination practices and equivalence of boards across the country.
The main component of this plan is PARAKH or the National Assessment Centre which has been set up as an organisation under the National Council of Educational Research and Training.
The mandate of PARAKH is to work on bringing the school boards across the States and the Union Territories to a common platform.
As a first step, a workshop on PARAKH will act as a common platform for interaction of all concerned stakeholders in order to develop a holistic approach that ensures a fair assessment system which promotes equity in performance and equivalence in assessment of students.

Stanford Researchers Develop 'e-skin'

Stanford University's Bao Research Group developed a soft, flexible electronic skin that can mimic the process that causes a finger or a toe to react and move away when poked, or when they touch a hot surface.
This current e-skin really has all the attributes that we have been dreaming about, said chemical engineer Zhenan Bao of Stanford University.
This technology, as per Nature, could lead to the development of a covering for prosthetic limbs. The best part about this breakthrough soft "e-skin" is that it can directly transmit electrical signals to the wearer's brain to allow them to 'feel' pressure, strain or changes in temperature.
The goal is to use this technology in prosthetic limbs to provide sensory feedback and improve control for amputees.

IIM-Kozhikode Ranks 72nd in Financial Times Rankings 2023

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode made debut in the Financial Times Rankings 2023 (FT Rankings). IIM Kozhikode was ranked at the 72nd position, among the top-75 open-enrolment executive programme providers globally.
This came a little after the institute earned a spot in the top 251-300 Institutes in Business and Management Studies globally, in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2023, which was released in March 2023.
IIM Kozhikode is only one of the three IIMs and four Indian business schools to feature in the top 75 FT Open-enrolment Executive Education Rankings 2023. In the Executive Education Open 2023 category, IIM Ahmedabad ranked at 45th spot, IIM Bangalore at 47th spot and Indian School of Business at 65.
In the Executive Education Custom 2023 category, Indian School of Business has ranked at the 29th spot, followed by IIM Ahmedabad at 45th spot and IIM Bangalore at 53.

TuTr to Tie up with IIT Madras on IP development in Hyperloop Technology

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras)-incubated Deep Tech Start-up TuTr Hyperloop is collaborating with the Institute on developing Intellectual property (IP) in hyperloop technology. The start-up also partnered with Tata Steel to jointly work on the development and deployment of Hyperloop technology at scale.
The start-up is presently finalising an MoU with a major Indian Engineering, Procurement and Construction Services company to work together to create and develop the Infrastructure and Systems for Hyperloop technology. Towards these, TuTr Hyperloop entered into an IP Agreement with IIT Madras.
TuTr Hyperloop is a deep-tech startup operating from National Centre for Combustion Research and Development (NCCRD), IIT Madras, in 2022 to carry forward the work done by CFI Team Avishkar and focus on commercialising hyperloop technologies.

Mahatma Gandhi Scholarships Awarded to 300 Students across Sri Lanka

Three hundred school students from all 25 districts across Sri Lanka received the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Scholarships.
High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Gopal Baglay, Sri Lanka's Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha, and State Minister of Education A. Aravindh Kumar presented the scholarships to the students.
The scholarship provides 2500 Lankan rupees per student every month to the top six students from each district, based on merit cum means. This year (2023), two batches of scholarships were awarded simultaneously to compensate for the disruptions caused by COVID-19 during the 2021-2022 period.
In addition to the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarships, the Government of India offers approximately 210 scholarships to Sri Lankan students annually in fields such as engineering, technology, arts, science, and indigenous medicine. The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation scheme also provides over 400 fully paid scholarship slots for Sri Lankan government officials to enhance their domain knowledge. Furthermore, thousands of seats are available to Sri Lankan students in India under the Study in India programme.

Highest Preterm Births in India: UN Report

India has the highest preterm births, babies who are born alive before 37 weeks of the pregnancy, in the world accounting for about 23 per cent of the preterm births worldwide.
Around 30 lakh preterm babies were born in India in 2020, according to a new report titled "Born too soon: Decade of action on preterm birth" by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). India is followed by Pakistan with 9.4 lakh babies getting born before the complete pregnancy.
Almost half (45 per cent) of all preterm births in 2020 occurred in just five countries: India, Pakistan, Nigeria, China and Ethiopia.

Ministry of Education and World Bank Organise School-to-Work Transition

Ministry of Education and World Bank organised a one of its kind workshop on School-to-Work Transition under the STARS Program in Mumbai. The workshop was co-chaired by Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, School Education and Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The workshop was also attended by the Secretaries of Education and Skill Department of the six STARS states, i.e. Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh along with the State Project Directors of Samagra Shiksha, respective officers, and representatives from the World Bank.
One of the key components of STARS program is strengthening of Vocational Education and School-to-Work Transition. The workshop focussed on discussion on a Skill Gap analysis of the six STARS States and Uttar Pradesh along with convergence of vocational and skill. Sanjay Kumar and Atul Kumar Tiwari elaborated on the present interventions of the Government of India, provisions of the National Education policy on vocational and skill education, and suggestive measures to scale vocational education in districts and take up aspirational districts on pilot basis to foster the common ideology of economic growth by increasing the employability of our youth.

DU, Ambedkar University Sign MoU to Work in Emerging Areas Like AI

The Delhi University and the B. R. Ambedkar University signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work in emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on social sciences.
The MoU will provide an opportunity towards optimum utilisation of resources like libraries, research laboratories, auditoriums, and sports grounds among other facilities of the two varsities.
It marked a significant collaboration between the Delhi government's Ambedkar University and the Delhi University, a central university.
The Ambedkar University is committed to academic collaboration and partnerships with other educational institutions in an effort towards becoming Multidisciplinary Education Research University (MERU), in alignment with the aims and objectives of National Education Policy 2020.

Private School in Surat Converts School Bus into Mobile Classroom

In a unique initiative, a private school in Surat, Gujarat, converted a school bus into a fully functional portable classroom. This innovative project aims to provide education to underprivileged children who often lack access to formal schooling.
The moving school, named Pramukh Swami Smriti Vidya Mandir, was inaugurated by Minister of State for Education Prafulla Panseria.
Mahesh Bhai Patel, the visionary behind the moving school, initiated this project to commemorate the birth centenary of Pramukh Swami. With an expenditure of Rs. 8.65 lakh, Patel transformed the bus into a classroom-like environment suitable for young students.
