Yatin Bhaskar Duggal Wins First Prize in National Youth Parliament Festival 2024

  • Yatin Bhaskar Duggal from Haryana won the first prize in the National Youth Parliament Festival, 2024, while Vaishna Pitchai from Tamil Nadu won the second prize and Kanishka Sharma from Rajasthan the third prize.
  • Addressing the concluding session of the National Youth Parliament Festival in New Delhi today, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said youth's thinking capability, ability to innovate and zeal to work will be instrumental in making India 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
  • He said that India will not only be a Viksit Bharat but will also show the path to the entire world. He further added that India today is moving towards modernisation and at the same time is keeping its heritage intact.

Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards

  • More than 90 artistes from the fields of Indian classical music, dance, theatre, folk art and scholarship were felicitated at the Sangeet Natak Akademi awards.
  • The ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhavan, for the 2022 and 2023 editions, in 2024, in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Culture Minister Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Sangeet Natak Akademi Chairman Sandhya Purecha, and Culture Ministry Secretary Govind Mohan.
  • Among the artistes felicitated were Hindustani vocalist Kalapini Komkali, playwright Asif Ali Haider Khan, martial artist Gurpreet Singh Khalsa, and dancer Manjula Ramaswamy. A fellowship was also awarded to five artistes.

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, British Indian Chef Asma Khan Win India-UK Achievers Honours

  • Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and British Indian chef Asma Khan were among the winners of the annual India-UK Achievers Honours in London, which recognises the achievements of Indian students and alumni who have pursued an international programme of study.
  • The initiative, by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK, in partnership with the British Council in India and the UK government's Department for Business and Trade, was launched in 2023 with the aim of celebrating bilateral educational ties.
  • At a ceremony, the 'Class of 2024' made up of high achievers across the arts, sports, entrepreneurship and medicine were honoured following a day-long conference entitled 'The Future of Education'.
  • Akhtar, the acclaimed writer-filmmaker behind box-office hits such as 'Luck By Chance' and 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and 'The Archies', was conferred the Living Legend Award in recognition of her work in furthering an understanding of India on the global stage.
