IISc Bangalore Students Declared Winners of James Dyson Award (National Category)
Two engineering students from the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore were announced as the national winners of the James Dyson Award for the year 2022. They innovated 'EpiSHOT' — a single hand-operated autoinjector to deliver emergency medicine intramuscularly or subcutaneously to treat life-threatening situations like anaphylaxis (or allergic reaction) with the provision for reloading and sterilisation for reuse within two minutes of first use.
Arjun and Krishnan would receive prize money of approximately Rs. 4.6 lakh and would get to represent India in the international round where the final winners will be picked up by Sir James Dyson himself. The international shortlist would be announced on October 12, and the international winners on November 16.

45 Teachers Awarded National Teachers' Award 2022 by President Murmu
President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Teachers' Award 2022 to 45 teachers selected for their remarkable work in the field of education ranging from introducing innovative teaching methods in classrooms and encouraging students to take up kitchen gardening to enhancing enrolments among girls through community support.
President Murmu presented the awards at an event in New Delhi to mark Teachers' Day observed to mark the birthday of the first Vice-President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Barack Obama Wins Emmy Award for his Narration in Netflix Documentary
Former President Barack Obama won the best narrator Emmy Award for his Netflix documentary series, Our Great National Parks.
The Obamas' production company, Higher Ground, is behind the five-part series on national parks around the world.
The Emmy joins Mr. Obama's two Grammy awards putting him halfway to becoming an Egot - someone with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.
He became only the second US President in history to win an Emmy.
The Netflix series showcases natural beauty spanning five continents, and features locations including Chilean Patagonia and Indonesia.
Other contenders in the category for best narrator included David Attenborough, Lupita Nyong'o and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Cambodian, Japanese among Winners of Magsaysay Awards 2022
A Filipino children's rights advocate was named among the recipients for this year's Ramon Magsaysay Award regarded as Asia's version of the Nobel Prize.
The awardees are Sotheara Chhim, a mental health advocate from Cambodia; Gary Bencheghib, an anti-plastic pollution warrior from Indonesia, Tadashi Hattori, a sight-saving humanitarian from Japan and Bernadette J. Madrid from Philippines.
Bernadette J. Madrid, together with her fellow Asian honourees, will be conferred with the continent's premier prize and highest honour in formal Presentation Ceremonies to be held at the Ramon Magsaysay Centre in Manila on November 30.
Each will receive a certificate and a medallion bearing the likeness of the seventh Philippine president, who was posthumously referred to by the people as the "Idol of the Masses."
Incepted in 1958, the Ramon Magsaysay Award, named after the late Philippine president, celebrates his legacy and leadership example. This accolade is bestowed annually to individuals or organizations in Asia who possess the same selfless service and transformative influence of the late and beloved Filipino leader.

Minister Hardeep S. Puri Presents Smart Solutions Challenge & Inclusive Cities Awards 2022
The Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs & Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri presented Smart Solutions Challenge & Inclusive Cities Awards 2022. These awards are an initiative of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the United Nations (UN) in India to address city-level accessibility and inclusion challenges faced by persons with disabilities (PwD), women and girls, and the elderly.
The UN Resident Coordinator in India, Mr. Shombi Sharp, the Joint Secretary and Mission Director, Smart City Mission, MoHUA, Kunal Kumar and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
