International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem

The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem (or World Mangrove Day) is celebrated annually on 26 July. The day is celebrated to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as "a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem" and to promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation and uses.
The day was adopted by the General Conference of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2015. It was on this day in 1998, that a Greenpeace activist Hayhow Daniel Nanoto, died of a heart attack during a massive protest to re-establish the mangrove wetlands in Muisne, Ecuador.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022

Kargil Vijay Diwas or Kargil Victory Day is the celebration of India's historic win against Pakistan on July 26, 1999. The Indian Army successfully removed Pakistani forces who were illegally occupying a hilltop at the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Kargil, Ladakh. To commemorate this victory and remember those who sacrificed their lives for this country, Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated annually in India on July 26.

World Embryologists Day

On July 25, 1978, Louise Joy Brown became the first baby to be born through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) method. Since then, IVF has become a ray of hope for couples with infertility issues who dream of having a baby. Therefore, Brown's birthday is celebrated every year as the World Embryologist Day.

Aaykar Diwas (Income Tax Day) Celebrated by CBDT

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) observes Income Tax Day (also known as Aaykar Diwas) on 24 July 2021. In India, the Income Tax Day is celebrated every year on July 24, as it was on July 24, 1980 that Income Tax was introduced for the first time in India by Sir James Wilson.
The purpose of this tax was to compensate for the losses incurred by the British regime during the first war of independence against British Rule in 1857. July 24 was first celebrated as Income Tax day in 2010.

Pi Approximation Day

Pi Approximation Day is celebrated on July 22 which is particularly dedicated to the mathematical constant pi (π).Pi denotes the relationship between the circumference of a circle and its diameter.
Pi Approximation Day and Pi Day are closely linked to each other, and Pi day is observed on March 14 every year all over the world.

World Brain Day

The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) celebrates World Brain Day on July 22 every year, focusing on a different theme each year. According to WHO, good brain health is a state in which every individual can realise their own abilities and optimise their cognitive, emotional, psychological and behavioural functioning to cope with life situations.
World Brain Day (WBD) 2022 was dedicated to the theme "Brain Health for all" as our brains continue to be challenged by pandemics, wars, climate change and the myriad of disorders impacting human existence globally.

International Moon Day

July 20, 2022 marked the inaugural celebration of International Moon Day. The United Nations General Assembly, on December 9, 2021, recognised the proposal submitted by the Moon Village Association and several other groups within the organisation. The application was submitted to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).
The day celebrates one of the most memorable moments in human history. On July 20, 1969, US astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to reach the lunar planet. It was the first time that a human had set foot on the Moon's surface.
Upon landing on the surface, with millions of eyes watching history being written, Neil Armstrong hopped down the ladder and said, "That is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." The Apollo 11 astronauts used the lunar module called Eagle to reach the surface.
The International Moon Day would be held annually and will aim at educating and promoting the sustainable utilisation and exploration of the Moon and the need for regulations of activities on and around the lunar planet.

International Chess Day

World Chess Day is an annual event celebrated on July 20 across the globe. The day brings attention to the popular board game, Chess players like Viswanathan Anand, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Magnus Carlsen, and highlights its positive impact on society.
On December 12, 2019, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) recognised World Chess Day. The date of July 20 was chosen as on this day in 1924, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) was established in Paris. FIDE, having more than 150 chess federations as its members, has celebrated World Chess Day since 1966.
