CISF Raising Day 2024

The CISF Raising Day is observed to commemorate the foundation of the force. The day is dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and contributions of CISF personnel in safeguarding the nation's critical assets and ensuring the safety and security of the people.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Raising Day is celebrated every year on 10 March. The day is significant as it marks the establishment of the CISF in 1969. The force was created to provide security to various industrial installations, government infrastructure projects, and public sector undertakings in India.

International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global event on March 8th, acknowledging women's accomplishments in social, economic, cultural, and political spheres. In 2024, the United Nations' theme is 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,' emphasising the need for gender equality.
IWD serves as a worldwide celebration of women's achievements and a powerful call to action for advancing women's rights and opportunities.

Jan Aushadhi Diwas (Generic Medicine Day)

The Jan Aushadhi Diwas (Generic Medicine Day) is annually observed across India on 7^th March to create awareness about the importance of Generic Medicines and to hihglight the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Janaushadi Pariyojana (PMBJP) .
On 7^th March, 2019, the Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi declared the 7th March of every year as Jan Aushadhi Diwas.
The first ever Jan Aushadhi Diwas was observed on 7^th March, 2019.
The Jan Aushadhi Diwas is annually organised by the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers (MoC&F).
Jan Aushadhi Diwas is observed on the final day of Ian Aushadhi Week. The first week of March (1^st March to 7^th March) is annually observed as the Janaushadhi Week.

National Safety Day

National Safety Day in India is observed every year on March 4 to spread awareness and commitment to working safely. The National Safety Council established the holiday to raise public awareness of all safety regulations, including those about the environment, workplace safety, traffic safety, and human health safety.
The National Safety Council (NSC) of India was established on March 41966. This initiated the observance of National Safety Day in 1972, and since then, it has been celebrated every year to raise awareness about occupational safety and health.
The theme for National Safety Day 2024 is 'Focus on Safety Leadership for ESG Excellence'.

Geological Survey of India Celebrates 174th Foundation Day

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) commemorated its 174th Foundation Day on March 4, 2024. The event was a grand affair, with celebrations held in Kolkata, the Central Headquarters of GSI, and the Southern Region's headquarters in Hyderabad.
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) is a scientific agency of India. It was founded in 1851, as a Government of India organisation under the Ministry of Mines, one of the oldest of such organisations in the world and the second oldest survey in India after the Survey of India (founded in 1767), for conducting geological surveys and studies of India, and also as the prime provider of basic earth science information to government, industry and general public, as well as the official participant in steel, coal, metals, cement, power industries and international geoscientific forums.
Dr. M. S. Krishnan was the first Indian Head of GSI.

World Hearing Day

Every year, March 3 is celebrated as World Hearing Day to raise awareness of hearing loss, promote ear and hearing care, and urge action to solve hearing loss and associated concerns.
The day was commemorated for the first time in 2007. Earlier, the day was originally known as International Ear Care Day. Later, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared World Hearing Day in 2016. Since then, the day has been celebrated annually on March 3.
The theme chosen for World Hearing Day 2024 is 'Let's make ear and hearing care a reality for all'.

World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day is celebrated on March 3 every year. The United Nations established this day to raise awareness about the necessity of preserving and protecting wildlife, as well as to promote sustainable practices that can help to conserve biodiversity.
The history of World Wildlife Day can be traced back to 2013, when Thailand proposed that the United Nations General Assembly establish 3 March, as World Wildlife Day. The day was first established in 2014, following the adoption of a resolution by the General Assembly on December 20, 2013.
The theme for World Wildlife Day 2024 is 'Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation'.

V. K. Paul Launches National Birth Defects Awareness Month 2024

NITI Aayog Member V. K. Paul launched the National Birth Defects Awareness Month 2024 at a function in New Delhi. The theme of National Birth Defect Awareness Month 2024 is 'Breaking barriers: inclusive support for children with birth defects'. Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram of the Health Ministry, various activities for nationwide awareness of birth defect prevention, early identification, timely management, and psychosocial impact will take place throughout the month.
