Large-scale UK Universities Delegation in India to Talk Transnational Education
In what is the largest delegation of its kind, representatives from 31 UK universities and education leaders are in India to discuss the future of Transnational Education (TNE).
This follows a year of conversations with the Indian education system, which has seen significant reforms and an increased focus on global collaborations for learning and innovation.
Coordinated by the Department for Business and Trade, the delegation will meet with stakeholders from various Indian universities, as well as state and central government bodies across Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Chennai.
The goal of this five-day visit is to internationalise higher education institutions through the expansion of partnerships, offering dual degrees and fostering research collaborations.
Delhi: RML Hospital Opens India's First Dedicated OPD for Transgender Community
The Centre-run Dr RML Hospital inaugurated India's first dedicated OPD for the transgender community on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.
This dedicated OPD service is available to transgenders every Friday and there will be a separate registration counter for them.
At India's first dedicated OPD for transgenders, they will be provided with an endocrinology facility with hormone analysis and free hormonal treatment, a psychiatry facility with clinical-psychological assessment, and plastic surgery, Dr. Shukla said.
The initiative was started to alleviate the difficulties encountered by members of the transgender community in accessing healthcare services, largely due to discomfort and the fear of discrimination and social apathy.
PM Modi to Inaugurate Atal Residential Schools
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to officially inaugurate all 18 Atal Residential Schools, a key pro-rural and pro-poor initiative by the Yogi Adityanath government, on September 23.
The establishment of Atal Residential Schools in all the divisional headquarters of the state by the Yogi government is an innovative initiative to provide excellent residential facilities and quality education free of cost to the children of labourers and destitute children due to COVID-19 in the state.

IIT Kanpur Faculty Elected as Fellows of INSA
Two professors of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur were elected for the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Fellowship 2023-24. The two IIT Kanpur professors are Prof. Bushra Ateeq and Prof. Nitin Saxena.
Prof. Bushra Ateeq is a Professor and Joy-Gill Chair Senior Fellow at the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur. She is revered for her extensive work on cancer research.
The second recipient, Prof. Nitin Saxena, is from the Computer Science and Engineering Department, and is also the founding Coordinator of the Center for Developing Intelligent Systems (CDIS) at IIT Kanpur.
IIT Madras Launches Jal Dhan Campaign to Conserve Water
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras launched the Jal Dhan Campaign in the campus. The campaign, inaugurated during the National Level Water Conclave 2023, is in line with the theme of Sustainable Agriculture with millet focus, water conservation and rainwater harvesting in industrial sectors. The Indian government is also working to rejuvenate 75 water bodies in each district of the country.
IIT Madras is very committed to this major task, which is one of the prime deliverables of the Sustainable Development Goals. All the 17 SDGs put forward by the United Nations have some connection to water, either implicitly or explicitly.
Defence Minister Approves to Set-up 23 New SAINIK Schools under Partnership Mode
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the setting up of 23 New Sainik Schools in partnership mode, thereby increasing the tally of such schools functioning under the aegis of Sainik School Society to 42, apart from the existing 33 Sainik Schools already functioning under the erstwhile pattern.
The schools will set up in a graded manner class-wise, starting from Class 6 onwards. A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed under this initiative by the Sainik Schools Society with 19 new Sainik Schools located all over the country.

KCR Launches 9 New Govt. Medical Colleges in Telangana, Aims for One in Each District
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated nine new government medical colleges across the state. Addressing the event via video conference, Rao said that the number of government medical colleges in Telangana has gone up to 26 from 5 in 2014 when the state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh.
Kumrambhim Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Jangaon, Rajanna Sirsilla, Nirmal, Jaishankar Bhopalpalli, and Karimnagar Medical Colleges were inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan launched Skill India Digital (SID), a digital platform aimed at synergising and transforming the skills, education, employment, and entrepreneurship landscape of India.
SID is the digital public infrastructure (DPI) for skilling, education, employment and entrepreneurship ecosystem of India. The platform is driven by the vision to make skill development more innovative, accessible and personalised in its embodiment, focusing on digital technology and industry 4.0 skills. It aims to be a breakthrough in accelerating skilled talent hiring, and facilitating lifelong learning and career advancement.

IIT Kanpur, ICICI Join to Fuel Start-up Innovation in India
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ICICI Bank to provide start-ups with a comprehensive support system.
This collaboration aims to enable collaborative initiatives between IIT Kanpur and ICICI Bank. The aim is to empower start-ups and innovators at the Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) IIT Kanpur with essential tools and knowledge.
AI Courses to be Introduced Soon in Government Schools in Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his Delhi counterpart and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the state's first 'School of Eminence' in Amritsar before addressing the Sikhiya Kranti Rally.'
At the rally Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that courses in artificial intelligence will soon be introduced in government schools across the state.
One lakh students will be imparted training in artificial intelligence while training will also be given to 10,000 teachers for teaching the courses.

Rajasthan CM Inaugurates Park for Coaching Institute Students
Rajasthan's Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot unveiled a sprawling 30-hectare park built at a cost of Rs. 120 crore to provide a serene and stress-free environment for coaching institute students.
Named the "OxyZone City Park Garden of Joy," this park has been designed to offer a respite from the rigorous academic schedules that students often face. The park's construction began in February 2020 under the Urban Improvement Trust.
This initiative is part of the government's commitment to creating a place for coaching students to unwind, rejuvenate, and connect with nature.
Bloomberg Annual Ranking of B-Schools 2023-24
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore was ranked at the fourth position in the latest Asia-Pacific Bloomberg Businessweek Best B-Schools Ranking 2023-24 released in September 2023. While the Indian School of Business, or ISB bagged the fifth place, SP Jain got the seventh place.
The first, second and third ranks were bagged by Hong Kong HKUST, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and CEIBS, respectively.
Parameter-wise, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore obtained the fourth rank in compensation, third in learning and networking, while second in entrepreneurship in the Best B-Schools 2023-24 rankings among the institutions in Asia Pacific region.
The ISB's postgraduate programme in management (PGP) was ranked fifth in Bloomberg's annual ranking of B-Schools. ISB was ranked second in networking, third in entrepreneurship, fourth in learning and fifth in compensation parameters.
SP Jain was ranked in the seventh position in all the parameters – entrepreneurship, networking, learning and compensation.
