Shri Sunil Arora Joined IDEA

  •  Shri Sunil Arora, former Chief Election Commissioner of India has joined the Board of Advisers for International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).
  • Shri Sunil Arora brings rich leadership experience, knowledge and skills to contribute significantly to the working of the International Institute. The Institute is assisted by a 15-member Board of Advisers who are eminent personalities or experts from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), established in 1995, is an intergovernmental organization based in Stockholm, Sweden with a mission to support sustainable democracy worldwide. International IDEA currently has 34 member countries which include large and small, older and newer democracies from all continents. India has been one of the founding members of IDEA.

Nanda Prusty died in Bhubaneswar

  •  Centenarian teacher Nanda Prusty, a class 8 pass-out who had been educating children and village elders free of cost for the last seven decades in Odisha, died at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
  • The 104-year-old teacher, popularly known as Nanda Master', was bestowed with the Padma Shri on November 9 for his long contribution in the field of education and social service.
  • Expressing sadness at Prusty's demise, Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, Nation will always remember this noble soul for his selfless service.

Konijeti Rosaiah Died

  •  Former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and veteran Congress leader Konijeti Rosaiah died on 4th December, 2021.
  • He was 88.
  • Rosaiah political journey began in 1968 as an MLC. He also served as the Governor of Tamil Nadu from August 31, 2011 to August 30, 2016.

Ex-head of World Athletics Lamine Diack Dies

  • Lamine Diack, the former head of world athletics' governing body who was convicted of corruption, died in Senegal at the age of 88.
  • Diack led the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) from 1999 to 2015, making him one of the most powerful people in athletics. But he was later found guilty of running a clique that covered up Russian doping in return for millions of dollars in bribes.
