Ministry of Tourism Participates in International Travel Exhibitions Asia

  • Ministry of Tourism, Government of India along with various stakeholders including tour operators and state tourism departments participated in one of the important international travel exhibitions held in Singapore with an objective to promote inbound tourism to India globally including the Asia Pacific region. The exhibition – ITB Asia concluded on the 27th of October. Ministry of Tourism led the participation of the Indian industry at the exhibition, which drew the travel trade business and stakeholders from across the globe and particularly from the Aisa Pacific region, and showcased varied tourism products and series of transformative experiences for travellers to India under the theme 'Incredible India! Visit India Year 2023'.

GCC Countries to Roll Out Unified Tourist Visa

  • The Gulf Cooperation Council countries will roll out a unified Gulf tourist visa within the next two years, the UAE's Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al-Marri said.
  • The visa will allow holders to travel to the six Gulf countries.
  • Al-Marri said that the seventh meeting of GCC Tourism Ministers unanimously approved the launch of the visa.
  • The UAE is preparing to welcome international tourists following the implementation of the unified visa, as well as developing a tourist route within the UAE that connected its seven emirates.

Gujarat's Dhordo Awarded UNWTO's Best Tourism Village 2023

  • The beautiful village of Dhordo in Kutch district of Gujarat garnered international recognition after it secured a place on the list of the 54 best tourism villages announced by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
  • The UNWTO's Best Tourism Villages 2023 accolade is a tribute to villages leading the way in nurturing rural regions, preserving landscapes, upholding cultural diversity, safeguarding local values, and celebrating culinary traditions. Launched in 2021, this initiative is a vital component of the UNWTO's Tourism for Rural Development program, which aims to promote sustainable tourism practices.
  • In its third edition, the UNWTO's initiative selected 54 villages from diverse regions out of nearly 260 applications. The announcement was made during the UNWTO General Assembly held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from October 16 to 20, where leaders and experts gathered to discuss the future of global tourism.
  • Alongside Dhordo, several other villages from around the world achieved recognition, including Barrancas in Chile, Biei in Japan, Cantavieja in Spain, Dahshour in Egypt, Dongbaek in the Republic of Korea, Douma in Lebanon, Ericeira in Portugal, and Filandia in Colombia, among others.

Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and IATO Sign MoU

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, (MPTB) and The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) in Bhopal to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation in research, promotion and tourism development in Madhya Pradesh.
  • MPTB and IATO agreed to assist each other in promoting tourism in the state by organising travel visits to Madhya Pradesh, conducting FAM trips, engaging in marketing and awareness campaigns, exchanging publications and academic materials, co-organising travel and tourism trade events, and promoting tourism destinations through media and public relations.
  • MPTB and IATO will jointly identify some lesser-known but potential tourism sites for developing and marketing amongst tourists and create new circuits, and itineraries depending upon available approaches to the sites and comfortable accommodations at those locations.
