Indian�'Origin Professor Wins Godel Prize for Groundbreaking Computer Science Work
A researcher of Indian origin, Eshan Chattopadhyay, who is an associate professor at Cornell University, was awarded the 2025 Godel Prize, one of the most prestigious prizes in theoretical computer science. He was jointly honoured with David Zuckerman, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin.
The Gdel Prize is awarded annually by ACM SIGACT and EATCS, alternating between ICALP and STOC conferences.

PM Modi Conferred Cyprus' Highest Civilian Honour
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the 'Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III', the highest civilian honour of the Republic of Cyprus. The award was presented by Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides during the Prime Minister's official visit to the country.
Instituted in 1981 by then President Spyros Kyprianou, the Decoration of the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III is one of the most prestigious awards conferred by the Cypriot state.

NitroCapt was awarded the Food Planet Prize 2025, the world's biggest environmental award, in Stockholm, Sweden. This recognition highlights their exceptional contributions and potential to disrupt the global nitrogen fertilizer industry.
Nitrogen fertilizers are used for 50% of the world's food production and emit as much carbon dioxide as the aviation industry. Sweden-based NitroCapt has developed a novel, energy-efficient process that makes fertilizer through plasma-produced nitrate. NitroCapt's technology could improve access to green fertilizer across the world.

Alexander Payne to Receive Honorary Leopard Award at Locarno 2025
Acclaimed filmmaker Alexander Payne will be honoured with the Honorary Leopard Award at the 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival.
Payne will receive the award, officially called 'Pardo d'Onore', in August at the film gala held annually in Locarno, Switzerland.

Siddharth Balachandran Receives Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Medal for Philanthropy
Siddharth Balachandran, a UAE-based Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist, was awarded the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Medal for Philanthropy, one of the highest civilian honours in the United Arab Emirates for humanitarian work.
The award, presented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recognises individuals and organisations for their exceptional contributions to charitable causes and social impact initiatives in the region.
Balachandran was honoured for what officials described as his 'outstanding effort and contribution to the enrichment of charitable and humanitarian work' across the UAE and India.
