Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 proceedings announced

President Droupadi Murmu conferred Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, recognizing excellence in science, technology and innovation. In the second edition, 24 awards were distributed across Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shri, Vigyan Yuva, and Vigyan Team categories. Padma Vibhushan recipient Prof. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar was honoured posthumously with the Vigyan Ratna. Other recipients included eight scientists in Vigyan Shri and fourteen in Vigyan Yuva, with Team Aroma Mission CSIR earning the Vigyan Team award. The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar seeks to celebrate scientific achievement and inspire future generations.

Advocate Shubham Awasthi Receives 40 Under 40 Lawyer Award

Malayalam Publisher Ravi Deecee Receives French Chevalier Honour

Ravi Deecee, publisher and managing director of DC Books, was awarded France’s Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for contributions to literature and cross-cultural exchange. The honour recognises his efforts in promoting Malayalam publishing and world literature among Indian readers. Param Vir Dirgha gallery inaugurated at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The gallery aims to educate visitors about India’s highest military decoration and the acts of valour, courage, and self-sacrifice of its recipients. Officials describe the exhibit as a tribute to national heroes and a learning space for youth and visitors. Filmfare OTT Awards 2025: notable winners announced

Oscars 2026 Introduces New Category

The Academy Awards will break new ground in 2026 with the introduction of a dedicated prize for casting, marking the first recognition of this craft in Oscar history. The decision acknowledges the essential role casting directors play in shaping performances and determining the success of films long before production begins.
The new category honours the expertise involved in identifying talent, interpreting creative vision and assembling ensembles that define a film's identity. Casting directors, often operating behind the scenes, have long argued that their work is central to storytelling. The 98th Academy Awards, scheduled for 15 March 2026, will be the first ceremony to present this honour.
