Legendary Malayalam actor KPAC Lalitha, passed away. She was 74.
Born in February 1947 in the Alappuzha district, Lalitha made her mark as a theatre artist before foraying into cinema and emerging as one of the finest actors across south cinema, most popularly in Malayalam.
She had starred in over 550 films and has two National Awards to her credit. Most popular for playing roles of a mother, she made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Kootukudumbam.
In 2000, she won the National Award for best supporting role for the movie Shantham.
She has six state awards to her name. These include her performances in films such as Neelaponman, Aaravam, Amaram, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Godfather and Sandesham.
Thums Up Ropes in Shahrukh Khan as New Brand Ambassador
Beverage major Coca-Cola signed Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador for Thums Up.
Earlier, Khan was associated with rival cola brand, Pepsi, for a long period of time and this is his first big endorsement after the controversy involving his son Aryan Khan in a drug case last year.
The new commercial for Thums Up featuring Khan, will have an integrated campaign across TV, social, digital, shopper, and OOH platforms.
Thums Up, which became a billion dollar brand in 2021, has partnership with the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and cricket.

Andhra Minister Goutham Reddy Passes Away
Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed away.
He was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly representing the Atmakur assembly constituency of Nellore district.
He was first elected as MLA from Atmakur in 2014 and then in 2019. He became a minister in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after YSRCP came to power in 2019.

Noted Kannada Writer and Poet Chennaveera Kanavi Passes Away
Eminent Kannada literatteur Chennaveera Kanavi passed away at the age of 94.
Born on June 29, 1928 at Hombal village in Gadag district to Sakkarappa, a school teacher, and Parvatavva, a homemaker, Kanavi had his initial schooling in the village and then he completed his higher education in Dharwad.
Kanavi penned more than 15 books, which were compilation of poems, collection of essays and various other books.
The litterateur had won the Sahitya Akademi award for his book 'Jeevadhwani'. Besides, he received the Rajyotsava Award, Pampa Award, Nadoja title, Nrupathunga award, Sahitya Bangara Award and several other awards.
Kanavi was one of the most creative writers of Kannada literary world.

Google Doodle Celebrates Chickenpox Vaccine Pioneer Dr. Michiaki Takahashi's 94th Birth Anniversary
Google Doodle celebrated Japanese virologist Dr. Michiaki Takahashi's 94th birth anniversary on February 17. Dr Takahashi developed the first vaccine against chickenpox.
Michiaki Takahashi was born on this day in 1928 in Osaka, Japan. He earned his medical degree from Osaka University and joined the Research Institute for Microbial Disease, Osaka University in 1959. After studying measles and polio viruses, Dr. Takahashi accepted a research fellowship in 1963 at Baylor College in the United States. It was during this time that his son developed a serious bout of chickenpox, leading him to turn his expertise toward combating the highly transmissible illness.
Dr. Takahashi returned to Japan in 1965 and began culturing live but weakened chickenpox viruses in animal and human tissue. After just five short years of development, it was ready for clinical trials. In 1974, Dr. Takahashi had developed the first vaccine targeting the varicella virus that causes chickenpox. It was subsequently subjected to rigorous research with immunosuppressed patients and was proven to be extremely effective. In 1986, the Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University began the rollout in Japan as the only varicella vaccine approved by the World Health Organization.
