Eiffel Tower Reopens After 104 Days

Marking a milestone in France's recovery from a coronavirus lockdown, the Eiffel Tower reopened to visitors after its longest ever closure in peace time: 104 days.
Tourists trickling back to Paris were delighted to find the landmark open when some other attractions in the French capital remain closed.
The Louvre Museum will reopen in July.
Of the tower's three decks, only the first two were reopened.
The tower lost 27 million euros ($30 million) from the lockdown that started in March.

Chhattisgarh CM Seeks Centre's Approval for 'Ram Van Gaman Path' Tourism Plan

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has urged the Centre to approve the concept proposal for 'Ram Van Gaman Path' tourism circuit in the state under Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
Baghel said that the state tourism department had selected nine sites along 'Ram Van Gaman Path' and has drawn up a plan to develop them.
The state government had made allocations of Rs. 5 crore last year and Rs. 10 crore in this year's state budget for Ram Van Gaman Path.

International Tourism to Decline 60-80% in 2020: UNWTO Report

According to the latest data of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) the international tourism could decline by 60-80% in 2020 when compared with 2019 figures, due to COVID-19 pandemic outbreak which will result in loss of USD 910 billion to USD 1.2 trillion and places millions of livelihoods at risk and threatens to curtail the progress made in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As per the latest (UNWTO) World Tourism Barometer the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a 22% fall in international tourist arrivals during the 1st quarter(3 months) of 2020.

Bangalore Airport wins SKYTRAX Award for Best Regional Airport

The Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru has won the SKYTRAX Award 2020. The airport was chosen as the Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia by the customers at the 2020 World Airport Awards.
Changi Airport, Singapore was voted the World's Best Airport for 8th consecutive year, while Tokyo Haneda Airport was voted the World's Cleanest Airport, and Paris Orly Airport was voted the World's Most Improved Airport at the 2020 World Airport Awards.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai was voted as Best Airport Staff in India & Central Asia.

Ministry of Tourism organized 18th Webinar

The Ministry of Tourism organized the 18th Dekho Apna Desh webinar series on 12 May, 2020. It was titled 'Odisha-India's Best kept secret' and took the participants on a virtual journey into Odisha.
The webinar gave a brief introduction to the State of Odisha and highlighting on the key selling proposition of Odisha such as its ancient civilization, famous temples with Kalinga style of architecture, long coastline endowed with beautiful beaches, arts and handicrafts, culture, popular dance forms such as Odissi, Gotipua, forests.
