  •  President, Vice President, Prime Minister have greeted people on new year Vikram Samvat 2077, Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba on March 25, 2020. 
  • President Ram Nath Kovind hoped that the auspicious occasions will bring good health, happiness and prosperity to everyone's life. He urged everyone to follow guidelines to fight COVID19 with full determination.

Ayodhya Deity Being Shifted To Allow Ram Temple Construction, Rituals Begin

  • Priests began rituals for shifting the Ram Lalla idol here to a temporary new location, clearing the site to allow construction of a Ram temple.
  • The deity and two others idols will be shifted to a temporary structure nearby till the planned construction of a Ram temple is completed on the site, allotted for it by the Supreme Court in a landmark verdict in November.
  • The special prayers began amid restrictions forced upon the organisers by the coronavirus threat. The puja will continue and the idols will be shifted to the new structure, a silver throne, on March 24, 2020 morning.

Odisha's Konark Sun Temple and Statue of Unity in Gujarat Find Place in Iconic Tourism Sites List

  • According to the Union Minister of State (Independent) for tourism and culture, Prahlad Singh Patel, the central government included the grand Konark Sun Temple, the UNESCO world heritage site in Odisha and the Statue of Unity in Gujarat in the Iconic Tourist Sites list, taking the total number of such places from 17 to 19.
  • The move has been taken after the ministry got the proposals from the Odisha Chief Minister (CM) - Naveen Patnaik, the Union Petroleum Minister – Dharmendra Pradhan and other delegations.
  • A total of 17 iconic tourist sites were identified by the government of India in 2019. It includes- Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri (Uttar Pradesh), Ajanta and Ellora (Maharashtra), Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort and Qutub Minar (Delhi), Colva (Goa), Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Somnath and Dholavira (Gujarat), Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Hampi (Karnataka), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Kaziranga (Assam), Kumarakom (Kerala) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar).

India's first Living Culinary Arts and Museum of WGSHA Enters Limca Book of Records

  • Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) entered the Limca Book of Records (LBR) for establishing "India's First Living Culinary Arts Museum" at WGSHA, Manipal, Karnataka. The process of WGSHA's Culinary museum's entry into the popular LBR started almost 6 months back and Chef Vikas Khanna was the founder of the first living culinary arts museum at WGSHA.
  • The museum was opened in the year April 2018, spread approximately over 25,000 square feet & the structure of the museum is shaped in the form of a giant pot.
  • The Museum consists of historical as well as household items such as plates made by the Portuguese in India, an old seed sprinkler, an ancient Kashmiri tea brewer known as 'samovar', a 100-year-old ladle used to dole out food at temples and bowls dating to the Harappan era.
  • The vessels from the Konkan, Udupi & Chettinad regions, apart from a large collection of rolling pins, utensils of all shapes and sizes, tea strainers of different types etc. are found in the museum.
  • Limca Book of Record (LBR) is a book of achievements made by Indians in India and abroad in many fields of human endeavour. It is the second book of records in the world after Guinness Book of World Records.

Oldest Egyptian Pyramid Reopens

  • The oldest Egyptian pyramid officially reopened after many years of restoration work.
  • The Djoser step pyramid in Saqqara dates back 4,700 years.
  • It was built during the Third Dynasty of the Pharoahs.
  • Work on its restoration began nearly 15 years ago.
  • It was interrupted for several years during the unrest that followed the uprising against ex-President Hosni Mubarak.
  • The design of the pyramid set the style for the great pyramids of Giza.
