Rahim's Tomb Re-opens after 6 Years
After his death in 1627 Abdur Rahim was buried right next to his wife's tomb situated in Delhi just like Emperor Shah Jahan was buried next to the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal in Agra. At one end of the spectrum, the Taj Mahal became the most sought after tourist destination in the country while on the other hand, Abdur Rahim's tomb remained unknown and of interest only to students and history enthusiasts.
Rahim's tomb came into limelight six years back when the InterGlobe Foundation in association with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) decided to support the conservation of Rahim's mausoleum.
The monument after remaining close for about six years has been re-opened for tourists after the six-year long restoration work which arguably is the largest restoration work undertaken for any monument in the country.
