PM Modi Becomes 1st Indian to Receive Mauritius' Highest Honour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Mauritius' highest civilian honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, making him the first Indian recipient of the prestigious accolade. The announcement was made by Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, recognising Modi's contributions to strengthening India-Mauritius relations.
The award, regarded as Mauritius' most distinguished recognition, is a testament to the island nation's deep-rooted historical and strategic ties with India. Modi joined an exclusive list of global leaders who have received the honour.

PM Modi Honoured with Barbados' Highest Award

In March 2025, Prime Minister was conferred with the prestigious Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados Award for his strategic leadership and support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award was presented in Bridgetown, Barbados, with Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita receiving it on behalf of Prime Minister Modi.
The award recognises Prime Minister Modi's efforts in strengthening global cooperation and providing vital assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.
India played a crucial role in supplying vaccines and medical aid to several countries, including those in the Caribbean, under its Vaccine Maitri initiative.
The Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados is the country's highest civilian award, given to individuals who have made significant contributions to global peace, development, and humanitarian efforts.
The award highlights India's growing diplomatic influence and its commitment to international solidarity during challenging times.

Suborno Bose Honored for Revolutionising Hospitality Education

Suborno Bose, Chairman of the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), was conferred the 'Lifetime Achievement in Hospitality and Education Through Technology' award by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Shekhawat at the Vibrant Bharat Global Summit 2025. The award recognises Dr. Bose's contributions to integrating AI and technology into hospitality education and tourism. His latest book, 'Harmonizing Human Touch and AI in Tourism & Hospitality', was also launched at the event.

Rishabh Pant Nominated for Laureus World Sports Award

Rishabh Pant was nominated for the prestigious Laureus World Sports Award 2025 in the comeback of the year category after his return to the Indian side after surviving a horrific car accident in December 2022. The awards ceremony will take place in Madrid on April 21.

Deep In Andhra Forest, Treasure Trove of Rock Paintings, Inscriptions

Ancient inscription, 800 to 2000 years old, were discovered at Kadapa's Lankkamala Reserve Forest in Andhra Pradesh, in what is being said to the biggest archaeological find in recent times. The survey by the Archaeological Survey of India also found rock art thought to be from the megalithic period.
The survey led to the discovery of three rock shelters. One of these contained stunning prehistoric paintings depicting animals, geometric patterns, and human figures.
The paintings, dating back to the Megalithic (Iron Age) and early historic periods (2500 BCE-2^nd century CE), were created using natural materials like red ochre, kaolin, animal fat, and crushed bones.
The rock inscriptions, dating between 4^th and 16^th Century CE, suggest that Lankamala was a major Shaivite pilgrim centre regularly visited by devotees from north India.

IFF Wins Global Privacy and Human Rights Award

The Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) won the Global Privacy and Human Rights Award in its maiden year. The award was presented in Taipei, Taiwan.
Founder and director of IFF, Apar Gupta, while accepting the award, said that he was accepting it on behalf of every Indian who believes in the fundamental power of privacy.
