Former England and Derbyshire bowler, Mike Hendrick has passed away. He played a major role in two of England's Ashes-series victories and took 87 wickets in 30 Tests for his country between 1974 and 1981. Hendrick, who took 770 wickets in 267 first-class matches and 35 wickets in 22 ODIs, was also the first professional coach of Ireland.

Badminton Legend Nandu Natekar Passes Away
Nandu Natekar, one of the legends of Indian badminton, passed away at the age of 88. He won over 100 national and international titles in his career.
Natekar, a tennis and cricket player before he excelled in badminton, dominated the world stage from 1950 to 1970. The Pune resident became the first Indian player to win an international event when he won the Sellanger International in Malaysia in 1956. The former World No. 3 made it to the quarter-finals of the prestigious All England Championships in 1954. He won the Men's Doubles National Championship a total of six times, the Men's Singles National Championship a total of six times, and the Mixed Doubles National Championship a total of five times.He won 12 out of 16 singles matches and eight out of 16 doubles matches as part of the Indian team at the Thomas Cup between 1951 and 1963. He also had the distinction of leading the country in the tournament in 1959, 1961 and 1963. He represented India at the 1965 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica.
Veteran multi-lingual Kanada actress Jayanthi passed away at the age of 76. She was ailing for some time with age-related issues.
She has acted in more than 500 films in five languages — Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. She was paired onscreen in several films with matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar in Kannada and did the most number of movies with him. She acted with N. T. Rama Rao in Telugu and Gemini Ganesan in Tamil. She also had long collaborations with important filmmakers of the time — Puttanna Kanagal in Kannada and K. Balachander in Tamil. However, all awards for her performance were for her work in Kannada films — four times best actress, twice best supporting actress and two Filmfare awards for best actress. She was called 'Abhinaya Sharade' by Kannada film connoisseurs.

Jackie Mason, Rabbi Turned Comedian, Dies
Jackie Mason, the US comedian and actor, has died at the age of 93.
The stand-up was ordained as a rabbi before turning to show-business in the 1950s. He was well known for his social commentary, talk show appearances and one-man shows on Broadway.
Mason won numerous awards in his career, including a Tony Award and an Emmy for voicing Krusty the Clown's father on The Simpsons.
Renowned theatre personality and litterateur Urmil Kumar Thapliyal passed away. He was 78.
Thapliyal worked all through his life for the revival of nautanki and popularising theatre.
The veteran was associated with Darpan, the 50-year-old popular theatre group of the state capital. He also had a long innings with the All India Radio.
