The World's Most Powerful Passports in 2024

Six countries -- four European and two Asian -- have jointly secured the top position for the most powerful passports, according to Henley Passport Index data. Singapore and Japan, besides France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, have the most powerful passports in the world with access to 194 destinations without a visa, according to the 2024 Henley Passport Index.
South Korea, Finland and Sweden stood at the second position with access to 193 destinations without a visa.
With access to 192 destinations, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands secured the third spot, followed by Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, ranking fourth on the list.
India slipped one rank compared to last year's 84th position to 85th position.

Himachal Pradesh Leads India's Most Welcoming Region in 2024

Booking.com, the popular online travel agency, unveiled its 12th Annual Traveller Review Awards 2024, highlighting the Most Welcoming Regions and Cities in India. The rankings were determined based on customer reviews received on the platform, providing valuable insights into the hospitality landscape of the country.
Securing the top spot in the category of the 'Most Welcoming Region in India' is Himachal Pradesh, showcasing a remarkable jump from the 5th position in 2023.
The rankings further feature Goa, Kerala, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand in the following positions.

First Driverless Metro Train Arrives in Bengaluru

According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the first driverless metro train comprising six coaches from China arrived in Bengaluru.
These coaches arrived at Hebbagodi depot in Electronic City, the IT hub in South Bengaluru.
This train will operate on the Yellow Line of the BMRCL from RV Road to Electronic City via Silk Board.
The train and coaches were built by a Chinese firm, which got a contract to build 216 coaches for BMRCL.

Now Indian Tourists can Visit Iran without Visa for up to 15 Days

The Iranian government announced a visa-free travel regime for Indian tourists entering the country by air and staying for a maximum of 15 days.
The government of Iran abolished visas for Indian citizens from February 4 subject to four conditions, the Iranian embassy in India said.
According to the new rules, Indians with ordinary passports will be allowed to enter Iran without a visa once every six months, with a maximum stay of 15 days.
The visa abolition specifically applies to Indian nationals who enter Iran by air, and applies only to those going there for tourism. As per the rules, Indian nationals who wish to stay for a longer period, or want to make multiple entries within six months, or require other types of permissions, must obtain necessary visas from the Iranian missions in India.

UNWTO Becomes 'UN Tourism'

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) entered a new era with a new name and brand: 'UN Tourism'. With this new brand, the Organization reaffirmed its status as the United Nations' specialised agency for tourism and the global leader of tourism for development, driving social and economic change to ensure that people and planet are always centre stage.
UN Tourism's new tagline, 'Bringing the world closer' inspires the design concept of its new symbol: a Pangea shaping a human figure in action. This evolution from the former globe symbols reflects the organisation's emphasis on the dynamic nature of tourism and on putting people first.
With 160 Member States and hundreds of private sector affiliates, UN Tourism has its headquarters in Madrid, Spain, and regional offices in Nara (Japan) covering Asia and Pacific, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) for the Middle East, as well as forthcoming regional offices for the Americas (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Africa (Morocco).
