Kohli and Bumrah in Wisden's T20I Team of the Decade

  • Indian skipper, Virat Kohli and star bowler Jasprit Bumrah are the only two Indians who made it to Wisden's T20I team of the decade. Additionally, the former has made it to Wisden's team of the decade in all three formats and has also been named among the top five players of the decade by the publication.

Vikas Krishan Makes Indian Squad for Olympic Qualifiers

  • Vikas Krishan (69 kg) claimed a slot in the Indian men's boxing squad for next year's Olympic qualifiers after winning his final trial bout along with two others.
  • The former world championships and Asian Games medal-winner, who competed in the middleweight 75 kg category for a long time, is back to the 69 kg division after recovering from a back injury sustained during his short undefeated stint in the professional circuit.
  • The 26-year-old, already a two-time Olympian, out-punched national medallist Duryodhan Singh Negi in a unanimous decision in the trial finals.

Soccer-West Ham Reappoint Moyes in Bid to Avoid Relegation Scrap

  • West Ham United have reappointed David Moyes as head coach on an 18-month deal to replace the sacked Manuel Pellegrini and help them move away from the bottom half of the table, the struggling Premier League club said.
  • Moyes, 56, returns to the Hammers for a second stint after he saved the club from the drop in the 2017-18 campaign during a six-month deal and he will face the same task with the team languishing in 17th -- a point above the relegation places.
  • The Scot's first game back in charge will be at home to fellow strugglers Bournemouth.

Host Cities for AFC Asian Cup 2023

  • Ten Chinese cities including Beijing and Shanghai have been selected to host the AFC Asian Cup in 2023, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced.
  • The other host cities are Tianjin, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou.
  • The 2023 Asian Cup will involve 24 teams after its expansion of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
  • This is the second time Asia's premier soccer competition will be played in China, which also hosted the 13th edition of the Asian Cup in 2004.

India U-19 Clinches Series

  • Yashasvi Jaiswal grabbed four wickets before making an unbeaten 89 to star in India Under-19 team's series-clinching eight wicket win over South Africa in the second Youth ODI at the Buffalo Park.
  • Jaiswal polished off the tail with a four-wicket burst with his spin bowling, as the home side was bundled out for 119 in 29.5 overs.

Weightlifter Seema Banned for Doping

  • India's Commonwealth Championship silver medallist weightlifter Seema has been slapped with a four-year suspension for a doping violation. In a statement, the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) said that Seema's dope sample was collected this year during the National Weightlifting Championship in Visakhapatnam.

Nikhat Zareen to Take on Mary Kom

  • Boxer Nikhat Zareen slammed compatriot MC Mary Kom for using foul language during their selection trials for Olympics qualifiers. Six time world champion and Olympic bronze medallist Kom defeated challenger Zareen 9-1 at the IG Stadium in New Delhi to confirm her representation in the 51 kg category for Tokyo Olympic qualifiers.

Virat Kohli Named In Wisden Cricketers Of The Decade List

  • Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been named in the Cricketers of the decade list alongside four others by the Wisden Cricketers' Almanac. Apart from Kohli, South African duo of Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers, Australia's Steve Smith and women's all-rounder Ellyse Perry also found a place in the list of five cricketers of the decade.
  • Kohli, who has scored 5,775 more international runs than anyone else in the last 10 years, has arguably been the best batsman over the last decade.
  • The 31-year-old Indian was named captain of the Wisden Test team of the decade, while also featuring in the ODI Eleven.
  • In the past decade Kohli has hoarded 7,202 runs in Tests including 27 hundreds, while in the shorter formats the Indian skipper has amassed 11,125 runs in ODIs and 2,633 runs in T20s.
  • Kohli, who averages more than 50 in all formats, has already amassed 70 international hundreds and is only behind Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar. He is also third in the list of leading run-scorers of all time behind Ponting and Tendulkar.
