Indian Railways Management Service a Result of the Inter-Department Spat on Train 18

  • The no-holds barred battle between the mechanical and the electrical engineering wings in the manufacture and approval of the 'Train 18' sets by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai could have been the tipping point in the tectonic move to have an unified Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS) in place of eight other services.
  • Top sources in Indian Railways indicated as much stating that Railways Minister Piyush Goyal was very much cross over the muck-racking exercise by the two wings "without any concern for the overall objective of the railways" and gave the go ahead.

Thaawarchand Gehlot Releases Braille Edition of 'Exam Warriors'

  • Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot released Braille Edition of 'Exam Warriors', a book authored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The release of the Braille version of 'Exam Warriors' took place at a time when Exams of Secondary and Higher Secondary Standards are approaching.
  • The Braille Edition of book will be available in Hindi and English. It has been printed by Braille Press of 'Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh' in Jaipur.
  • The book contains a detailed-deion of animated picture as well as various yoga asanas which will let students imagine pictorial graphics with ease.

Harry Potter First Edition Bought for 1p Sells for £1000s

  •  A signed first edition Harry Potter book that was bought for 1p was sold for £2,300 at auction.
  • Mark Cavoto had bought the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 1998 hardback online and was unaware it was signed by J. K. Rowling until it arrived.
  • The Derbyshire businessman owns about 1,500 Harry Potter books and makes money by buying and re-selling them.

Tamil Community is Present in Singapore for over 2000 Years Now: Book

  • The Tamil community has been present in South East Asia and Singapore for more than 2,000 years, according to a new book which explores the lesser-known aspects of Tamil history and heritage.
  • Titled 'From Sojourners To Settlers - Tamils in Southeast Asia and Singapore', the book was launched by Singapore's Minister for Communications and Information S. Iswaran.
  • It explores the lesser-known aspects of Tamil history and heritage in South East Asia and Singapore, examining evidence of Tamil connections with the region for more than 2,000 years.
