Pension Scheme for Those Detained under MISA during Emergency to be Restored in Chhattisgarh

  • Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the pension for those who were detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during Emergency between 1975 and 1977 will be restored in the state.
  • The pension scheme for detainees under MISA during Emergency, which was started in the state during the BJP rule in 2008, was withheld by the previous Congress government in 2019.
  • MISA detainees (Lokantra Senani) were given pension ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 in three different categories.

Odisha Government Extends KALIA Scheme for 3 More Years

  • The Odisha state cabinet extended the cash assistance scheme, Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) for farmers to overcome distress, by three more years with a proposed expenditure of Rs. 6,029 crore.
  • The state cabinet announced that the scheme exclusively meant for small and marginal farmers as well as sharecroppers will be operational till 2026-27.
  • The KALIA scheme was announced in December 2018 by Naveen Patnaik government.

Assam Scraps Muslim Marriage Act

  • In a step closer to implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), a controversial legal framework aimed at standardising laws across all communities in India, Assam scraped off Muslim Marriage Act.
  • Providing information of the removal of the Assam Muslim Marriage & Divorce Registration Act 1935, the state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Assam cabinet made a significant decision to repeal the age-old Assam Muslim Marriages & Divorces Registration Act.
  • This act contained provisions allowing marriage registration even if the bride and groom had not reached the legal ages of 18 and 21, as required by law.

  • Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Rashtriya Udyamita Vikas Pariyojana in Sambalpur, Odisha. The initiative, launched virtually across 9 cities, aims to empower beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi scheme nationwide.
  • Objectives of Rashtriya Udyamita Vikas Pariyojana: Entrepreneurship Training: Provide comprehensive entrepreneurship training to create job providers instead of job seekers.
  • Reskilling and Upskilling: Adapt individuals to the evolving job market by enhancing competitiveness and adaptability.
  • Duration and Methodology: Offer a 22-week training program combining theoretical knowledge with practical exposure through offline, online, and hybrid modes.
  • Certification: Award certificates upon completion to enhance the course's credibility and value.

Indian Govt. Approves 100% FDI for Space Sector in the New Policy

  • The Union cabinet approved the amendment to the foreign direct investment policy for the space sector, allowing up to 100 per cent investment through three categories of liberalised entry routes.
  • The amended policy will allow up to 100 per cent investment under automatic route for the manufacturing of components, systems and subsystems for satellites, ground segments and user segments.
  • For manufacturing and operating an entire satellite, up to 74 per cent investment will be allowed under the automatic route. Anything beyond the limit will have to go through a government approval process.
  • For launch vehicles and its systems and subsystems or creation of a spaceport, up to 49 per cent FDI will be allowed through the automatic route under the new policy.
