Govt Extends Scope under Transport & Marketing Scheme for Agricultural Exports
In order to enhance agri exports, the central government has enhanced the scope of Transport and Marketing Assistance (TMA) scheme for specified agriculture products by increasing rate of interest and including dairy products under its purview, and extended the scheme till March 31, 2022.
"Enhanced assistance under the revised scheme is expected to help Indian exporters of agricultural products to meet rising freight and logistics costs," the ministry of commerce said in a statement.
Dairy products, which were not covered under the earlier scheme, will also be eligible for assistance under the scheme. Apart from that, the rates of assistance have been increased, by 50% for exports by sea and by 100% for exports by air. "Now the Department of Commerce has notified revised TMA for specified agriculture products scheme for exports effected on or after April 1, 2021 up to March 31, 2022," the statement said.

Jharkhand Passes Bill for 75% Quota in Private Sector Jobs for Locals
The Jharkhand Assembly passed a bill that provides for 75 per cent reservation to locals in jobs with salaries up to Rs. 40,000 a month in the private sector amid uproarious scenes.
Once the Jharkhand State Employment of Local Candidates in Private Sector Bill, 2021, is enacted, Jharkhand will become the third state in the country after Andhra Pradesh and Haryana having a law providing for reservation in private sector jobs for local residents.
The bill was earlier cleared by a select committee of the Jharkhand Assembly with some changes.
It was tabled during the budget session in March and was referred for vetting to a six-member select committee formed by Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto.

Gujarat Launches Vatan Prem Yojana
Governing body of Vatan Prem Yojana held its first meeting in September. The Vatan Prem Yojana was launched earlier in 2021.
They held the meeting at Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Presentation of details of the scheme was put before the Chief Minister.
Governing body proposed works to the tune of Rs. 1,000 crore, which have to be completed by December 2022.
Vatan Prem Yohana is a repackaged version of Madar-e-Vatan scheme by the state government of Gujarat. Madar-e-Vatan has been renamed due to association of the title with Persian language.
Arunachal Pradesh Launches Two Agri Schemes
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched two credit-linked schemes in the state to boost agriculture and horticulture sectors and to ensure doubling of farmer's income. Mr. Khandu said that State-level and district-level committees have been constituted for selection of beneficiaries for the schemes.
He said the district-level committees headed by the respective deputy commissioners and district agriculture officers and district horticulture officers, would select the beneficiaries and submit the list to the State-level committees for approval.
Mr. Khandu appealed to the officials of both the Departments to stick to the timeline for the schemes saying that Agriculture and Horticultre Departments cannot be compared with other Departments as both deal with schemes on a seasonal basis.

J-K LG Sinha Inaugurates 'Saath' Initiative for Women Associated with SHGs
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched Rural Enterprises Acceleration Programme titled 'Saath' for Self Help Group (SHG) women.
There are 48000 SHGs in Jammu and Kashmir. Four lakh women are connected to these SHGs. This Saath initiative will stress on mentoring and market linkages of products created by these women. It is our aim to create 11000 more SHGs in the coming year. This will transform the lives of these women and make them independent and strong in social and financial aspects.
Saath is aimed at accelerating livelihoods of rural women, associated with SHGs and which are doing small works. There is not much profit in their work and there is a lack of knowledge about marketing, packaging and branding. This initiative aims to teach women such skills and convert their businesses into Higher Order Enterprises.

Punjab to Launch 'Mera Kaam Mera Maan' Scheme to Help Unemployed Youth
The Punjab Cabinet gave a nod to a new scheme that will help the unemployed youth in the state to hone their skills and increase their chances of getting a job. These youngsters will be given short-term skill training free of cost under the ''Mera Kaam Mera Maan" scheme of the state government. A target of 30,000 beneficiaries has been proposed, at a cost of Rs. 90 crore.
The scheme also provides an employment assistance allowance of Rs. 2,500 per month for a period of 12 months from the start of the training course, which will be conducted at Punjab Skill Development Mission training centres.
The allowance shall be given during the training period, and after successfully completing the training, during the pre-placement and post-placement period of 12 months from the date of the start of the programme.
