Telangana Govt. Introduces 'Aasara' Pension for Poor
As a part of its welfare measures and social safety net strategy, the Telangana government introduced the 'Aasara' pensions, with a view to ensuring secured life for all the poor.
It is a welfare scheme of pensions to old people, widows, physically disabled and beedi workers.
Tahsildar of Asif Nagar, D. Sunil Kumar said that 10,000 new Aasara pensions were sanctioned under Asif Nagar Mandal jurisdiction.

Mamata Banerjee's 'Duare Ration' Scheme is Legally Void, Rules Calcutta HC
The Calcutta High Court declared the 'Duare Ration Scheme' (ration at the doorstep) of West Bengal government is ultra vires to the National Food Security Act, 2013 and is legally void.
The judgement was passed on an appeal by fair price shop dealers challenging the order of a single bench of the High Court that there was no illegality in the scheme introduced by the state government.
The division bench of Justices Chitta Ranjan Dash and Aniruddha Roy held that the 'Duare Ration Scheme' is "ultra vires of the National Food Security Act., 2013" and "is therefore a nullity in the eye of the law". "The State Government transgressed the limit of delegation by obliging the Fair Price Shop dealers to distribute the rations to the beneficiaries at their doorstep in absence of any authority to that effect in the enabling act, i.e, the National Food Security Act." the division bench observed.

UP Passes Amendment Bill that Denies Anticipatory Bail to Rape Accused
Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly passed the Code of Criminal Procedure (Uttar Pradesh Amendment) Bill 2022 which bars granting of anticipatory bail to rape accused.
As per UP Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, a provision has been made to not grant anticipatory bail to those accused of offences under the POCSO Act and 'durachaar' (misconduct) with women.
Denying anticipatory bail in sexual offenses against young people and women would reduce the chances of the accused destroying the evidence.
The provision would also help prevent the accused from intimidating or harassing the victim and other witnesses.

The Rajasthan Assembly passed the Rajasthan Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which proposes that the registration of companies would not be cancelled even if they fail to file the return for six months.
The system of issuing credit notes will also start.

Govt. Approves PLI Scheme for Manufacturing Solar PV Modules
The Cabinet approved a Rs. 19,500-crore production linked incentive (PLI) scheme on 'national programme on high efficiency solar PV modules' with an aim to attract Rs. 94,000 crore investment in the sector.
One of the benefits expected from the PLI scheme is that about 65,000 MW per annum manufacturing capacity of fully and partially integrated solar PV modules would be installed.
The national programme aims to build an ecosystem for manufacturing of high efficiency solar PV modules in India and reduce import dependence in the area of renewable energy.
The initiative is expected to reduce import substitution of about Rs 1.37 lakh crore.
